I had called Aunt Martha shortly after I found my mother. She would come to the house and stay with me until my 18th birthday (that's in 9 months) when I could live alone. She lives by herself in Connecticut, and we....I live in Nevada.
Those five days waiting were very lonely for me. At school I didn't tell anyone about what happened. Daniel wasn't avoiding me as much but he didn't talk to me at all. He just ignored me. We hadn't had a chance to work on the project again since Monday.
So I bore the pain silently and alone.
Saturday was the day Martha arrived. She was always a cheerful woman with a booming, happy voice. But considering the circumstances, she was very quiet and her eyes looked tired and pained. The whole family said that I looked more like her than I looked like my mother (she was my mother's sister).
Chestnut hair, big gray eyes, oval face, and a wide smile. My disposition used to be as hers....before my father and Liam died.
"My little bean, I've missed you!" my Aunt said as she put on a forced smile. (She called me bean because when I was little I would always hop around, and it reminded her of a jumping bean.)
"I've missed you too!" I said as I hugged her tight.
"Well let me have a look at you." she said as she spun me around, "I haven't seen you in quite some time. Three years to be exact. Golly, you've grown!"
I smiled slightly for her sake.
"Well, darling, could you show me where my room is? I'm very tired from my trip here."
"Of course!"
I showed her the room she would be staying in, and I went to my room while she unpacked.
*She thinks I have friends that I invite over all the time, but I don't. I'll have to become friends with someone at school this week. I don't want her to worry.* is what I thought to myself as I sat down on my bed.
{I don't know why there is an underscore thing before "is", but I was having technical difficulties, soooooooo yeah.}
