The next day when I went to school I was in the best mood I had been in since the car accident.
When I was putting stuff in my locker before class started, and I heard a loud noise and then yelling some ways down the hall. I ran down there, and there was Daniel with a bloody nose and pages ripped out of his books and Jacob walking away.
I ran to Daniel. "Are you okay?" I asked him as he was picking up his books.
"Yeah." He said in a sharp tone.
"Well, can I help you pick up your books?"
"I said I'm fine!" He snapped at me and walked away down the hall.
My mood instantly dropped and for some reason I felt really disappointed and sad. As suddenly as my mood dropped a tear escaped from my eye.
Daniel then came running back down the hallway. "Lillian!" He set down his stuff on the ground, and I turned to walk the other way but he didn't let me. "Look, I'm sorry. I...I didn't mean to say that. Please don't cry."
"It's fine." I said kind of snob-like as I wiped the tear away. "Perfectly fine."

Daniel's POV:::
Then she was gone. Just like I left her. Why did I even run back in the first place? I've never done that. As I stood there just watching her walk away I hear a sly voice say "Can't get 'em all, can ya?"
Jacob again.
"Maybe not all of them. But I can get this one. You can't." I said before I picked up my things and walked away.
"Hey! You little—"
"You might want to keep that word in your mouth!" I called after him as I was walking away.
I was so proud of myself for saying something!! I'd never done that before....I guess that day was the day of new beginnings.

Back to Lillian's POV:::
I went into the classroom and sat down by Jennifer.
The teacher wasn't in yet.
"How are you holding up?" She asked me.
"Great, actually. I've felt a lot better since yesterday."
"That's great! I'm so glad!"
We smiled at each other.
"Look guys! Dork-ette made a friend!" Jacob announced.
"Awwwww!" The class sang in perfect harmony.
"It's not her fault none of you morons wanted to be her friend! Leave her alone!" Jennifer defended me.
"Oh, we were her friends!" Said one girl.
"Until one day she just dumped us! No one wants to be friends with someone so fickle!" Said the one beside her.
"Yeah!!" Said the class.
"Maybe you were the fickle ones! Did you ever think that maybe you were doing her a disservice before she 'dumped' you?" Jennifer said, very confidently I might add.
"Jennifer, just leave it. They won't stop and then they'll hate you too. I cut my ties with them when my dad and brother died. I didn't want to weigh them down." I whispered to her.
"I don't care if they hate me. People like that aren't worthy to like me." Jennifer whispered back.
"But just leave it alone for now. Please?"
"Okay. For you."

After school was over I asked Daniel again if we could meet that evening, and he said that he could come to my house at 5:00 p.m. again.
