Swapped Roles Part One

As children we all learn about what an story is made up of. Their is the plot and theme, but the one thing that's not talked about much is character roles. Each character has its job in the story, but to think how different the story would be if their roles where just swapped.

Collin and Luke walked side beside down a path heading towards what was left of the red keep. It had been a week sense they had gone through the portals at the magic library. Thoughts flood Collin's head, he had been trying so hard to save Drake. After wanting to protected him and Luke from HIM he jumped at the demon. Knocking both of them into the lava and HE possessed Drake trying to save himself. Then he went an broke one of the diamonds and In weakening the Demon he killed his closest friend. At least he learned why he wanted to protect him so badly. In the magic library they found his little brother Armen's journal. Inside, it explained everything to them. Armen had made a deal with a demon who told him there would be a price. That price was his body, he got possessed by HIM but before HE took Armen over completely he ejected what was left of his humanity. His humanity latched onto and endermen and in effect crating Drake. Collin takes a deep breath and Luke seeing the mage upset he decides to ask him about it. "Hey Collin how are you doing after all that's happened?" The ex commander asks. "The best that I can be I guess?" Collin responds back questioning his own words. Luke sighs he was also upset that they couldn't save Drake. But as he learned being a commander for the empire the past is the past and you can't change what has already happened. Silence drops between the two friends as they continued down the path. However they both stop in their tracks when they hear rustling in the trees.  Equipping his weapon first Makes Collin follow example and readies his magic. "One.Two.Three." Luke whispers just loud enough for the mage to hear. They both turn around once Luke says three and instantaneously Luke gets shot in the leg and he drops to the ground. On instinct Collin lifts the Earth in front of them creating a shelled of sorts. He quickly gets bandages and a healing potion and hands them to Luke and explains a plan. "Take the arrow out of you leg and pour some the healing potion on to the wound it should stop the bleeding, then wrap it. This guy isn't a mage so I should be able to handle him easily enough." Collin steps out from behind the shelled not wanting to hear Luke's protests. The man who attacked them had blond hair and green eyes and seemed some how familiar to the mage.
