A Crack In The Universe Part 1/2

I'm working on creating an original story of sorts so I thought I would write a little short story here to get some feedback on two of my characters.

Mia sat under a tree hidden from the midday sun, Grayson was next to her checking his crossbow and Drake was leaning against the tree next to her. Tired from getting up early that day she sat with her eyes closed, as Drake shifted to stand up straight she opened her eyes to look at him. Grayson also looked up from his work to see what the mage was doing, he was looking at something but the other two couldn't see it so they continued what they were doing as the mage walked off.
Mia closed her eyes and Grayson packed his crossbow gingerly into his bag, a breeze them causing Grayson to stand and Mia to open her eyes. The whole environment around them changed Mia was quickly joined, Grayson in standing Drake appeared next to them worry showing in his eyes. It seemed to fade slightly seeing his two friends unharmed "What was that?" Mia asks with a hint of fear in her voice.

Drake seemed puzzled "You felt that too?"

"Yes? Is something wrong?" Grayson started to also worry seeing how confused Drake had become by Mia's rather simple question.

Drake paused thinking "What you felt was an aura change something mages should only notice, "

"What is an aura change?" Mia asked but it wasn't heard by her mage friend. He and Grayson froze as they looked at something she followed their gazes to look at a crack in the world it seemed she took a step forward towards it but Drake grabbed her wrist.

She looked up at him but when she heard a noise coming from it she looked back to see a man fall out of the crack. He was just a bit taller than Grayson but shorter than Drake he had messy brown hair and almost silver eyes if she had to guess he couldn't be any older than twenty yet something about him said otherwise. Mia found his clothes odd he wore jeans and an odd gray shirt with a hood attached to it which had two blue strings coming from it. The crack made another noise and he quickly turned on his heels and steady a girl on her feet as she fell into their reality.

The girl wore more familiar clothes which were a cloak with jeans and a t-shirt underneath, she had long brown hair and warm brown eyes. Unlike the man, she seemed much older at a guess maybe thirteen to fifteen years old, and next to the man she deemed as short as Mia did when standing beside either of her human friends. The man looked up at the three onlookers and scanned their faces before a smile appears on his own. "Hello, umm it would seem we've gotten a bit lost could you tell us where we are?"

Drake turned to see what Mia or Grayson was going to say but he found them both frozen in complete awe at the two strangers. He looked back over at the girl and young man and sighed before turning to be completely facing them, "Well we are near the border of the Badlands, " As Drake suspect he had no idea what he was talking about.

"We aren't in our universe are we?" the man asked.

Drake took a deep breath a bit hesitant to answer "Yeah"

Nodding the young man mirrored Drake's nervous behavior "Yeah"

The girl spoke up quietly at as much of a loss as Grayson and Mia were "What?"

The man responded to her question with a pat on her head "Well anyway, " he took ahold of Drake's hand and shook it "I'm the teacher and this is Emma, " he gestured towards the younger girl who smiles timidity towards Drake.

"The teacher?" Drake question.

"well you know after a good thousand years you tend to forget your name, I work at a school back in my universe and the kids gave me the nickname, " He tried to explain but as always Drake only got confused. "It's a long story,"

"I can tell, anyway I'm Drake and, " he turned towards his two friends who were still speechless. "My two very very loss friends here are Grayson and Mia, "

"Hi" Mia waved slightly Grayson mimicked her wave and Emma smiled at them in amusement.

The three mages eyes darted do the crack in reality as the aura from it intensified at this point the aura was enough to harm any living thing subconsciously their magic protected. Grayson and Mia, we're almost immediately affected, Drake was closest to Grayson and grabbed his arm and a shielded his own magic which him to protect. The teacher stepped up and did the same with Mia, Emma had no idea how to help the two all instead she tired and opened a portal. Knowing what she was going to be asked she answered quietly "This will get us a safe distance from here, " without any further questions they quickly went through.
