"You think it's noble to harm yourself more just to be with me?"

I don't know where I am, what happened or why I hurt so much, but I do know I'm in so much pain it feels like I'm in the pit of hell with Hades. Motherfucker!
"Carlisle she's waking up." I hear Embry say hurriedly from near my head.
I groan and move my hands, slapping someone. A chuckle or two sound as someone squeezes my hand. "Aubs?" It's Carlisle.
"Mm." I groan and slowly open my eyes; they feel heavy and I try to rub them.
Warm hands take mine and kiss them. "You'll poke your eye out if you're not careful." Embry chuckles lightly. I force my eyes open and squint at Embry, who's face is inches from mine. His familiar brown eyes look deep into mine with worry, but also relief.
I instantly lean over and kiss him, wrapping my arms tightly around his neck. He laughs gently and unwraps my arms from him, gazing down at me as he settles me back into the bed. "Hi sleepy head." He strokes my hair back.
"Hi." I whisper and exhale slowly, only now realising the pain in my head, arm and chest. I try to hide it as best I can from him and Calrisle, who I now realise is stood just behind Embry.
"How do you feel, Aubree?" He says in a soft voice; he stays back, not because he wants to but because Embrys lanky legs and big torso block any room left of the bed as he defensively lays beside me.
I swallow the lump in my throat and try to find my voice; it comes out raspy and barely there. "O-kay..."
"You don't need to lie to us, no one else is here." Embry frowns as his big, warm hand caresses my cheek.
I look into his eyes for a moment. "Everything... hurts.." I cough a little.
Carlisle nods with a frown. "It will honey, I'm sorry. I'll get you some more morphine soon but we wanted to see how you'd handle being awake." I frown deeply and he laughs gently. "You've been asleep for almost 72 hours straight. The morphine wasn't helping so Embry and I agreed to reduce your dosage for a few hours."
I nod in understanding and Embry brings a glass of water with a straw to my lips; I gratefully gulp down over half the big glass, panting a little once I'm done. Embry laughs and wipes a dribble of water off my chin. "Easy there."
I look up at him again and then down to his left leg. I notice the cane leaned against it and how he keeps pressure off it, supporting himself with his right leg even sat down. I frown deeply. "You're hurt." I whisper.
"I'm okay, I promise." He says softly, his thumb stroking my cheek.
I frown still and look at Carlisle. "Is he?"
