I hug my jacket closer to me as I'm literally being let by a chain across the roof. Its windy, and the helicopter awaiting me was foreboding against the night. I was relieved to see Jake sitting in one of the seats, and he made an effort to half smile and wave at me twice.
I glare at the man with a gun pressed to my back for pushing me, and slow down my pace even further, just to piss him off. I hear him curse under his helmet and he jabs me between the shoulders with the barrel of is AR, and I hiss with the pain. Without thinking, I turned around and felt all my muscles tighten up, and I felt stronger than ever before.
I backhanded him right off the side of the building. Thank whatever deity exists he wasnt the one holding my chain.
Jake bursts into boisterous laughter and it must have been contagious because it made me chuckle a bit. The second guard seemed to shake off his stunned panic because he leveled his weapon between my eyes.
"Walk!"
I scoff. "We both know you cant shoot me." But I turn around again and walk towards the helicopter.
The sky didnt seem so black right now, I observed. It was like a dark shade of purple with hints of blue. It was a lot prettier than it deserved to be. It seemed to me that the sky hovering over such a bad and evil place should always be grey. There should always be nasty storm clouds and foul air. Instead the sky was a pretty color and there was a full moon, no stars because of the city, but the moon shone like all the stars were housed inside it, and the air was fresh.
I hesitated getting in so the guard got irritated and picked me up, uncermoniously tossing me onto the floorboards of the copter.
"Asshole," Jake spat at the guy before hooking his hands under my arms and hauling me to my feet. I thank him and sit across from him.
"Do you know where we are going," I ask.
"Not really. I know Arias and Carla aren't coming though. They are preparing something for China I guess."
"Do you know what it is," I press with my eyes wide.
Jake scoffs and folds his fingers together behind his head. "If I knew anything or not isnt gonna change anything. We can't stop them."
"That's a poor attitude! Leon can-"
Jake cut me off. "You're always talking about Leon this and Leon thay! Cant you get it through your thick skull that no one, not even Leon is coming to rescue you?" He shakes his head with another scoff and looks me dead in the eye while resting his elbows on his knees as he leans forward again. "You got to save yourself. Stop expecting others to do it for you."
I felt like a fish out of water the way my jaw hung loose.
"Not to break up your moment, but move."
Sebastian stood at the entrance with a brief case and I glared at him with all the hate and fury I could muster. He glares right back at me and I had a feeling he would push me out of the way if I didnt move of my own accord. So I scooted over and fastened my seatbelt.
"I'm going back to sleep," I growl and cross my arms across my chest. My words were lost in the roaring of the helicopter as the engine started and the blades started whooshing above our heads. I think they got the message though, as I closed my eyes and got comfortable leaning against a storage cage.
But my rest wasnt very restful. All I could think about was Leon and how right Jake was. How was anyone ever going to find me now that they are moving me out of the city? I was on my own now...
