Selena walks down the high school corridor with her bag over her shoulder and her hoodie over her eyes. Nobody really paid attention to the orphan girl, so she easily escaped unnoticed from situations she didn't want to be involved in. Like the fight going on just now. Some boys were brawling it out and almost hit the girl walking by herself by throwing the losing boy into a locker to her left. Selena couldn't tell if they were actually fighting, or if they were friends, because they were laughing, but actually beating each other up. Teenage boys, Selena scoffs.

She looks up at the clock in the hall to see she has an extra ten minutes before the warning Bell, so she dips into the school library.

"Ms. Porter, you're early today," the pleasant librarian greets her.

"Good morning, Miss Petunia. How are you?"

"I'm good, dear. Just wish the students would return their books!"

"I can't say as if I can help there. I always have mine back on time."

"I know, and that makes me happy, it does," the woman's accent was as thick and warm as the old womans affectionate gaze on the girl. "You run along now and find yourself a new adventure!"

"Thanks Petunia, I plan on it."

With that Selena traveled to the fantasy section and went strait for the faerie books. She was always so interested in the Fae and their wars and the stories always took her to a magical place where she was accepted and loved. Not that she had problems at home, she just liked the idea of magic. It was one of the reasons she kept her mother's journal.

Over the years she came to believe she had made up the journal being magical, but she never dared to write in it again. Just in case. For one that loves magic, she also knew to be wary of it. That book was dangerous. After picking the fantasy book she wanted, something called Steel Rose ,she went to the science section.

This section was really the only thing she had for her father. Nobody ever wanted to talk about him because none of her 'family' had anything good to say about him. Especially not Uncle Chris and Aunt Jill. They even made it a point that Selena would go by her mother's maiden last name, not Wesker. The world would 'end' if they knew she was a Wesker. Selena rolls her eyes.

She picks out a book on diseases and heads to the check out line, waiting behind a mousy brown haired girl with wire rimmed glasses, holding three anime books. Kuroshitsuji, they read and the girl was practically bouncing with excitement.

"Have you ever read them? Or seen the show," the girl asks Selena, seeing her looking. "I just got into Black Butler, and it's like my favorite! Sorry, I'm rude, my name's Aleine."

"No, I haven't. Selena."

"Well, you should," Aleine exclaims while handing the books to Petunia, who watches the pair. Selena could use a friend. "It's nice to meet you Selena."

"Yeah...I guess."

Aleine frowns at the lame response, but the smile turns upside down fast. Who has time to be upset? "See you around!" And she leaves the library.

Selena checks out her books silently, clearly not wanting questions from the librarian. When she gets the books back she stuffs them in her back pack and shuffled out the door and down the hall.

The warning Bell goes off and Selena doesn't even pick up her pace. She wasn't sure why she felt like a black cloud was over her head today, but she couldn't shake it. Selena looks up just in time to see some girl fall to the ground, her books flying out of her hands. The girls who tripped the littler person laugh and kick the fallen books across the hall. A closer look told Selena it was Aleine on the floor, picking her glasses up and putting them back on her face.

"Go back to your cupboard, dork," says a bottle blonde girl.

"Sherry, I'm surprised her dad can even afford a cupboard," squeals a raven haired girl.  Both girls laugh, holding onto each other.

"What happened to all the money, Leeney? Did you bury it with your mother when she committed suicide because of you," sneered Sherry, the blonde.

At this point Selena steered forward, standing between the girl on the floor who was almost in tears, and the two girls who were bullying her. "Maybe you should shut your Harpy mouth, Sherry. Your STD's are talking over your peabrain."

Sherry goes red with anger and her friend is staring wide eyed with her mouth open in an 'o' shape. "You're gonna get it," Sherry threatens. "Who the hell are you anyway?"

"My name is Selena. And you're gonna stay away from me, and Aleine."

"Or else what," Sherry sneers.

"Or else I'll ruin that manicure of yours. On second thought, maybe that's help you...considering there's fungus growing under those nails." Selena smirks at her as she examines her nails and Sherry lets out a shriek, grabs her friends arm, and rushes to the bathroom.

Aleine is just standing up with her books and looks up at Selena with wide brown eyes. "Thank you."

"Don't mention it," Selena responds, and walks off to her class. The tardy Bell rings right as she enters her Home EC class.
