Y/N POV
It's been one month since Normani and I parted ways and honestly, I don't feel anything. I've unfollowed and blocked her on all of my social media and I even deleted her number. At first there was a little part of me that would've taken Normani back but then she decided to get with that airhead ex boyfriend of hers so I wiped my hands with that situation. She's free to do what I want and I'm gonna do the same. The only thing I'm worried about is the well-being of my son and making sure he's taken care of.
"Bow bow bow bow!" Devante screamed in the backseat.
I looked up in my rear view mirror to see my son having a good time listening to the radio. Since I have the day off I decided to take Devante to see my parents. It's been awhile since we saw them and I know my dad is looking forward to seeing me. More than likely Devante's gonna spend the weekend with my parents which is fine with me. Natalie isn't too far from my parents so she can pick him up when the weekend is over.
I am so grateful that I don't have one of those annoying, whining baby mamas who wants to make my life hell. Natalie has her own thing going on but she always puts Devante first. She isn't blowing up my phone all times of the day and night asking me when am I going to spend time with our kid. And she hasn't put me on child support, yet, but I don't think she will.
"You ready to see nana and papa, son?" I asked.
Yeah! I wove nana and papa." Devante said.
"They love you too son." I said.
"Mani wove me?" Devante asked.
I looked in the mirror and Devante had the most innocent look on his face. I didn't want to tell him no and break his heart but lying and saying yes she does love him wouldn't have made things any better.
"Honestly son I don't know. Mani is living her own life now, but I think there's a part of her that still loves you." I said.
"Oh okay." Devante said.
"Cheer up son, we're almost at nana and papa's house." I said.
"Whoop whoop!" Devante said excitedly.
I made the turn down the street and pulled the truck into my parents driveway. I got out of the truck and opened the door so I could take Devante out of his car seat. He ran over to the steps and took his time climbing up them. "Good job son." I said once he made it to the top.
I unlocked the door and we walked in the house. "I here!" Devante said.
My dad peeked around the corner and Devante ran over to him. My dad picked him up and began to tickle him, then Devante let out a really loud fart. Devante and my dad a really cool relationship, my dad spoils Devante way more than my mom does. But he's always teaching him valuable life lessons that'll help him as he get older.
I walked into the kitchen and my mama was standing over the stove hooking up something. I crept up behind her and put my hands over her eyes and said, "I hope I can get a plate of whatever you're over here whipping up."
"Of course you can Y/N, now take your hands off of my hands so I can fix you a plate." Mama said.
I sat down at the table and fixed myself a glass of sweet tea. "Your daddy was craving jambalaya today so I got in here and made big pot." Mama said.
"Well I made the right decision to come pay you guys a visit." I said.
Mama say a plate down in front of me and I went to town. My dad came in with Devante and fixed him a little plate. My son maybe be small be he has a big appetite, just like me. Some of my mail was still coming to my parents house so I went through it while I ate my food. It was mostly letters from credit card companies that wanted me to sign with them, sales papers from shoe stores, and recruitment flyers from the Army and the Marine Corps.
