[ PART TWO ]
m a x

i scan the dinner hall, my tray in hand, and look for somewhere to sit.
or atleast that's what i tell myself.
in reality, i'm looking for sadie, not just to see if she's with that same boy again, but to see if she's okay.
if mike spots her, i can only imagine what sort of pain he might cause her.
if not physically, mentally.

instead of seeing sadie, i find talia.
she was sat alone, her usual salad placed infront of her as she scribbles something onto a note pad.
" talia?  hi " i say, sitting in the seat opposite from her.
" so now you wanna talk? " she asks, finishing writing her sentence and then putting her pen down.
" look i'm sorry about the other day, okay, i was jut stressed "
" so stressed that you decided to take it out on mike apparently " talia says, raising an eyebrow and giving me her usual 'are you stupid?' look.
" he said stuff about sadie and i freaked, okay...speaking of sadie, have you seen her? " i ask.
" she's over there " she says, pointing her finger to the direction behind me.
as i turned around, i saw her.
and as i could have guessed, she was sat with that boy, whoever he was.
he was laughing hysterically, his muscles are shaking and tears stream from his half closed eyes.
i hold my breath behind pursed lips, my eyes squinting into a glare as sadie laughs along with him.
i know what's happened, sadie probably just told one of her lame, but oh so funny jokes and now they're bonding.
i feel something hit my arm and i turn to see talia.
" envy ain't pretty," she says and keeps writing. i roll my eyes and then turn my head around but can't help looking over at sadie, her hair falling perfectly down her back.
something else hits my arm; "your face looks constipated, forget sadie and be yourself " talia says, as i pick up the two tomatoes she had previously threw at me, " everything alright between you two? "
" we had a minor argument that's all " i explain, stabbing my fork into the sloppy mess that is school lunches.

S A D I E

" do you think his love life is as messy as his hair? " louis says, referring to mr brown, and causing an eruption of laughter throughout my body.
" if his date ideas are as bad as his teaching then probably " i add, louis chuckles.
i open up my locker and place my books inside as louis leans against the one next to me.
" you know sadie, i wouldn't have been able to get through this day without you " he smiles, which causes my smile to widen as i look into his eyes.
the slamming sound of my locker causes me to jump back onto louis, breaking our stare.
" already cheating on max are we? he should've known better, homeless girls know nothing about loyalty " an unfamiliar, gravely voice snarls, as i turn around and see a rough looking boy.
" who are you? " i ask timidly, releasing myself from louis' grasp.
" me? i'm mike hurley, and i can assure you, i'm going to make your life a living hell. homeless people don't deserve a happy ending, so welcome back, sadie " the boy, mike, says, pushing past both me and louis as his group of friends laugh and follow behind.
" who was that guy? " louis asks.
" i have no idea " i reply, a range of emotions flowing through my body; confused and scared being the most powerful.
" sadie? " louis asks, and i turn, taking my eyes off of mike and his gang to look at louis, " are you really homeless? "
i sigh, " come on, let's walk home, i'll tell you everything on the way "
louis nods, and we begin our long, complicated walk home.
