What could be more scary? The feeling of new freedom, knowing that I was now alone and a runaway teenager; or walking the scene of a horror movie?

At this moment I wouldn't know.

The sun was now at its lowest point, illuminating the sky in a orange-y shade. It seemed like the sun and the moon were fighting a war, yet everyday in the end, the moon would win.

"Yet, don't keep your hopes up," Anna's sweet velvet voice spoke as she chuckled, her fingers pinching my nose.

"The sun never gives up because she risese very night. See, as much as darkness wants to win, in the end, light is always victorious."

I shook my head from the memories that fought to advance. It would only make me want to cry. Anna was a far away memory. My time with her was unreachable and not having her was difficult so my only option was to lock her up and hide her away.

She was the mother Shelby didn't know how to be. She was the friend that stood by my side no matter what. She was the hand that always pulled me up when everyone was anchoring me down.

I needed to stop thinking of that. I had to stop reminiscing my time with her. It was just going to push me deeper in the hole I was fighting to come out of.

I maneuvered through the trees, dried up leafs and sticks crackling under my boots. The dancing wind carried voices. I ignored them but the faster I moved forward, the louder they got. At first it was quiet murmurs, then full words. My first thought was my imagination pulling my sock, yet the clamor became more audible with every inch I took ahead.

"Why did you begin it?" The voice was of a girls. It was soft as silk and quiet yet full of dominance.

"I didn't. Honest." This was a males. His voice was shaky and not confident. He was lying.

My feet stopped as their voices ceased. The only hearing sound was the leaves waltzing with the wind as it swooped by. The cold air twirling by made my hair dance with it in fast, uncontrollable steps as it slapped my face. The silence prolonged as a chill ran down my spine and goosebumps covered my body.

"You know what happens when you lie to us." Another man's voice spoke in an uncanny tone, making me clutch the strips of the duffle bag closer to my chest. My feet unglued and moved in quiet steps forward, my head moving in all directions trying to find the voices with no face to them.

There was another pause, the silence excruciating and nerve wrecking. Something caught my eye in a small opening space between trees, my feet guiding me there without a babel being made.

My mind was throbbing with the confusion of the conversation. What did he begin? Why is he lying about it? What can they do to him?

What if they kill him? My head finally brought up the most important question. What's the best place to kill a person if it isn't somewhere where no one will see.

Except me. I'm going to witness someone's death.

Shit.

My body tried hiding behind the trees despite the moral screaming in my head telling me to turn and make a run for it. My eyes caught a glimpse of six figures, all male and one female. They were present in the middle of a small area clear of any herb as autumn leaves fell from the trees or were wafted by the wind.
