Waking up to another repetitive day of the same tedious scenarios was beginning to settle a dull feeling inside of me. Awakening to follow a routine of never ending boredom was gonna end up with me six feet underground.

Finally standing up from where I had laid since I opened my eyes, I groaned at the darkness in the room. I hated that there were no windows for the sun's light to come in. Mornings were a hazy blur since I arrived at this vacant place with the screaming silence audible in my ears.

The long shower I took gave me time to think as the blistering water poured down my body. I thought about each talent the few vampires Luke told about held. They were astonishing things I was unable to grasp at all with my mind. It was physically and mentally impossible to do such things as morphism or curing.

The vampire world had been hidden between ours for all of time and it was unbelievable how I ran into it. Writing history, life either uses coincidences or destiny when colliding two worlds, and I'd like to think I wasn't meant to be here. That I was supposed to be packing my bags, preparing to start a new life in the northern cold of Washington state.

Was anybody worrying about me? Daisy and Ashton probably think I am an inconsiderate person that never bothered to call back with news of my safe arrival.

Only I didn't arrive safe. If they only knew...

Walking into the humongous closet, I debated on what to wear for the day. I pulled on some black jeans that I first saw when searching through the bags of days ago from the shopping spree and a stripped shirt. The multiple bags were all set on the color peach carpet floor along with the gift boxes I still hadn't opened from my birthday.

Slipping on my black combat boots, I hurried up stairs to meet with Luke since that's where he always greets me in mornings. I met with the silence I always dread and much to my dismay, no signs of the boy that'd accompanied me every time since I'd arrived.

It felt abnormal to be alone considering I had a vampire beside me at all time. I'd gotten used to the feeling of being with others that waking up alone was a shock. Brushing off the feeling of loneliness and confusion, I decided to head for the library and ignore that no one would protect me from whatever I accidentally bumped into.

No sound could be heard from inside the large library as I walked through the doors which led me to believe the place was vacant.

"Hello? Is anyone in here?" I called out to make sure my prediction was correct. My seemingly shaky voice echoed from the walls holding an extent of white oak shelves repleted with books. To my advantage, I was proven right when no one answered back.

My feet started strolling into the gigantic room with two floors where a massive chandelier hung from the middle ceiling. In the middle of the maroon rug sat a rounded table the dark color of cherry with a thin vase that held a single red rose.

Disregarding their lack of decoration, I roamed around the table as a number at the top of a shelf caught my attention. The number thirteen was written out in bold crimson paint at the very top of the wall. My eyes followed left to see where the numbers began.
