I've wondered how the koi survive
In those rich people's ponds
Do they burrow down and dream
Of where nature intended them to be?
How do they stay safe under all that cold?
Do they slow their beating heart?
What could I learn from these koi?
To adapt? To pretend?
To guard my heart when it's the end?
