Rudderless, alone
Drifting down the loneliest path it surely has ever known
You left and my balloon heart
Came untethered at the base
But hovered lowly, anxiously
For a second glimpse of your face
I wish I'd buried you with a blanket
Or buried you at all
My soul was just not ready
For my heart to take such a fall
I'll take any dream you care to visit me
Even nightmares, where I chase you into eternity
I'll call down this path, though I know you won't answer
I'll meander, I'll roam
I'll follow my soul as it winds down
This path of life alone
