JAKE ABBEY TRIED to find the right thing to say as he looked at Athena, but his words fell short. She had used the straightener he had purchased, her dark brown tresses now falling a little past her shoulders as she cut a decent amount off.

"I feel ridiculous," Athena answered, shaking her head as she crossed her arms. She had never straightened her hair before, her father banned the notion of the action. "I better never see you putting that damn iron to your head...god gave you the hair you have. You better not try to change it."

"You look beautiful." The man uttered swiftly.

Athena stared at Jake, her face falling from his answer. She walked closer to his seated position on the white couch, his posture immediately straightening the closer she came.

"Why did you take me out of the house?" She quietly inquired, her voice low as Jake shook his head slightly.

"It was the right thing to do."

"Not the smartest. Why did you do it, Jake? Why not just leave me to clean up my own mess-let me face the punishment of what I've done..."

Jake's hand reached out for hers then, the light from the cities skyline the only thing illuminating the duo in the living area. Jake allowed his fingers to graze her wrist and travel up her forearm. He wanted to kiss her so badly...

"-I care about you, Athena. You're everything to me in one. You're the only one who has seen me for who I am, and not for who others think I am."

Athena sat down beside him then, her hands reaching out to caress his face. Athena had never kissed a boy-and Jake was not a boy. He was indeed a man. His hands have traveled distances Athena wouldn't dare go. Jake could feel her heart beating rapidly, his hand holding hers steady as he closed his eyes.

"I'm scared," Athena confessed, her eyes watering as she leaned her forehead on his.

"I won't let anything happen to you, Thee. I won't."

She opened her eyes then, a nervous laugh escaping her lips.

"Please...I'm not a baby." She said, trying to lighten the mood which ultimately caused the man to rumble with laughter.

"Wow...really?"

Then it happened. Jake had leaned in and sealed the distance between his and Athena's lips. It lasted for a moment before Athena pulled back, rising to her feet with confliction. She was so scared. What did she have to do? She's seen movies of people kissing and she really wanted to kiss Jake. She didn't want to ruin it though...she feared that Jake wouldn't want to kiss her if he knew how lame and inexperienced she was...

Jake gave a defeated laugh, his hand moving to push his hair from falling into his face as he uttered his next words.

"Sorry, for that."
