JAKE KNEW THIS day would come, but he wished it weren't so soon. The man sat hunched over an officers desk, his tresses wild as he sat in anguish.
He had been separated from Athena since they arrived at the Minnesota PD, the officers keeping a close eye on Jake as Athena was currently being questioned.

A man stopped in front of Jake's defeated figure, causing him to look up. Detective Poltz placed his hands on his hips, giving Jake a certain look that meant nothing but trouble. He pulled the seat from the desk, moving it inches in front of Jake as he sat.

"Why the long face, cowboy?" Poltz spat with a snicker, leaning back in his seat as he Jake sat up fully now. It was almost like they were sizing each other up, Poltz angular features pure opposite of Jake's.

"You look like you've seen the goddamn devil-"

"-I want to see her. I need to see my wife." Jake spits and Poltz laughs, standing. He twists the toothpick between his teeth, his lips curling devilishly as Poltz gave a ghoulish smile. He placed his hand roughly on Jake's shoulder, gripping rather roughly.

"What you need is a fucking blessing from God."

"Athena...how are you this evening?"

Detective Baizen was a newer detective to the Minnesota Police Department, only make a year in his field a month prior. This would be his first serious case. It was as if Athena could tell by his stance, the way he entered the room. He was too nice, too formal. This would be the second time she sees the man, the second time she has to listen to him ramble about what's right and what's wrong...

"I've been better..." The woman replied, her eyes seeming to search his body.

"I want to ask you some more questions, is that alright?"

Athena merely stared at the man standing tall before her across the steel table. Her brown eyes searched around the otherwise empty room and up towards the bright florescent bulb that hung in the middle of them.

"I don't have a choice."

"You do, but I'd advise you to cooperate. My boss really isn't one for small talk."

Athena shifted in her chair, the metal of the handcuffs cold and uncomfortable around her wrists. She rolled her eyes, hearing about the infamous Detective Poltz which Baizen spoke about rather scarily the day before to a shell shocked Athena.

"Do you think I'm going to hurt someone? I don't get why I have to be cuffed to the table like some animal." Athena spat harshly, shaking her wrists for emphasis as Detective Baizen took a seat with a sigh.
