Chapter 40

"Oh my god..."

I held onto the end of the bed as i felt myself losing balance. The doctor bowed his head and looked up at me

'I'll give you a minute'

I listened to the door close gently as the heart monitor caught my attention. I scanned her from head to toe and felt tears forming again. Picking up a chair, i put it down quietly beside the bed as i slowly sat on it, not taking my eyes off her

Her skin was pale and the colour had gone from her cheeks. She had a huge black and purple bruised lump on her forehead and a taped cut beside her eye. Her lips were a pale purple and she had a light patch of faded red down her chin where the blood had ran from her mouth. She was dressed in a pastel blue hospital gown and her hair was messily hanging either side of her shoulders. She had 3 wires stuck on each arm, a small tab connected to her finger, a wire stuck to her temple and an oxygen mask over her nose and mouth. Her body was so still. And the only thing that kept me from breaking down, was the light movement of her chest and the steady beeping of the heart monitor.

Slowly, i reached over and took her cold hand. Pulling away gently in shock, i placed my warm hand back into hers and held it with both of my hands. Sniffing loudly, i cleared my throat

"I'm so sorry Natalie. I really am so sorry"

I bowed my head, still holding her hand

"I never meant for this to happen. Honest i never"

The room became silent again apart from the monitor

"Lately, i haven't been the easiest person for you to get along with. And i know i've been distant and i want you to know that none of that is your fault or in any way anything to do with you. I've been a dick to you and i deserve this..not you"

I sniffed once more

"Natalie, i know you cant hear me baby..but i want you to know that you are the most beautiful girl i've ever seen and i want you to be in my life for always..because you mean everything to me and i cant stand to be apart from you. You're my bestfriend and you're pure perfection"

I lifted her hand and kissed it lightly

"..i love you so much.."

Suddenly, a few extra beeps sounded from the monitor as i looked up at the screen. Her heart was beating faster than it was before

"GUYS, GET THE DOCTOR!!!!"

I stayed seated beside her, rubbing my thumbs over her hands as her body began to shake

"Its okay baby, Justin's here"

The door flew open and the doctor and 2 other nurses came in, followed by the others

'What's wrong!!??'

"Her heart beat, its increasing"

The doctors swarmed around her bed and began talking medically. Giorgia let out a cry, in shock of the state her bestfriend was in. Ryan took her out of the room as we were ordered to leave. Leaving the room, i watched them as Chaz pulled me out, shutting the door behind him

'Justin! Justin what happened!? Is she alright?'

I shook my head

'What happened?'

I sat up and spoke to them all as they stared at me with sad expressions on their faces

"I sat beside her and i took her hand. It was so cold. I started talking to her and apologising for what had happened and i just, i told her what she meant to me and that i..um..."

The crew carried on staring at me

'You..what?'

I sighed

"I..er..told her i loved her..so much"

The crew began smiling

'Then what'

I slouched again

"Her heart rate began increasing and the monitor started beeping more than it was when i first came in and she started shaking"

The guys were shocked and quite blank about the whole thing, i glanced over at Giorgia who was smiling wide with tears in her eyes

"Why are you so happy?"

She giggled slightly as a tear fell

'She must of heard you'

Everyone stared at her in silence

'Think about it? Her heartbeat is normal, Justin walks in, tells her he loves her and then her heart beats irregularly. Justin you're the only person who can make her feel the way she does when you're around. You can practically hear her heart beating when you're near her'

I smiled and wiped my eyes

"Really?"

She nodded and smiled again

'The next time people can go in, i'll go in with you..okay?'

I smiled and nodded. Looking up at the clock, it was close to midnight. Laying down on the chairs, i closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep

In my head, i could hear a muffled shouting. It was a familiar voice but i couldn't think of where i'd heard it from. The voice became closer and the words were clearer

'Where's Natalie? Where is she!!'

A mans voice, he was crying; his voice kept breaking slightly as he called for her

'Shhh just sit down bud'

Giorgia was comforting him but my eyes were still closed. Opening them slightly, i could see a blurred man crying into his hands. Sitting up, i rubbed my eyes and he stared at me.

'H-hey..'

My vision became clear and my eyes widened

"Harry?"
