Luke's POV
We were back at Quinn's house. The doorbell rang and it was possibly one of two people. One, Quinn's friends. Or two, the pizza guy. I was hungry so I was hoping for the second.
Quinn and I were up in her room watching YouTube video to pass by time. It was my last night here and I choose to have a pizza and movie night with her Quinn and her friends. After what happened last night I felt we needed a do over. I want to meet her friends and know them. Last night I didn't get to do that.
When the doorbell rang Quinn disappeared to answer it and I was left with the laptop sitting on my lap in her bed.
I paused the show we were watching as my phone began buzzing. I glance over at beside me and my heart felt like it dropped out of my chest as I seen the name on the screen.
It was my Dad.
I couldn't bring myself to pick it up and answer it. I didn't know what I could possibly say him because it caught me off guard. A phone call from him would only mean one of two things.
Either there's an emergency or he now knew I was thousands of miles away, not only in another country, but in a completely different continent. I let the call go to voicemail as I began feeling sick and nervous. If he knew I was here I would be done for until I went to college.
Quinn reappeared and climbed back beside me. "It was our neighbor asking if we got anything of theirs in the mail by mistake." She scooted closer to me and got comfortable but noticing how my mood had drastically changed in the minutes she was gone. "Luke are you okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, I just need to excuse myself for a moment." I smiled at her as I scooted off her bed with my phone in hand. Seeing her confused expression I quickly added, "I'll be right back."
"I made my way to the spare room I was calling mine. I closed the door and looked down at my phone.
I had one text message from Dad and the knots started forming in my stomach. I swiped it open and read the message.
Dad: Lucas Roberts Hemmings you best enjoy your life while you can because when you get off that plane your freedom is gone until you walk out that door to go to college. I hope she was worth it.
I stare at the message debating whether or not I should reply. I was hesitated but decided I'd be in deeper shit than I already was if I didn't say anything.
Luke: I would do it all again, so yes dad she was worth it. See you soon.
I hit send and as soon I as did I heard a gentle knock at the door. I already knew it was Quinn so I opened the door. She didn't come in but just stood there. My phone started buzzing again but this time it was Ashton. He was warning me about my dad knowing and that he was probably going to get grounded and his phone taken away so if I didn't hear from him that was why.
I quickly responded back to him with an apology because helping me meant he was going to suffer consequences now that we were busted. I felt bad that I dragged him into my mess and that I begged him to help me.
"Luke," Quinn whispered. I could tell she was worried about me. "You can talk to me about whatever is going on."
I didn't want to tell her but I knew I couldn't hide it from her now. I knew she would be disappointed and upset but I have to tell her the truth now.
I took a deep breath and slowly let it out before holding out my hand to her. She took it and I pulled her inside in the room and closed the door.
"Quinn, my parent's originally told me I couldn't come here. Ashton helped me devise this entire cover so I could sneak here and be back before my parent's or anyone else found out. Somehow, though, my parent's found out because my dad just tried to call. I didn't answer because I was panicking and then he texted. That's why I left the room. I was freaking out."
Quinn's lips pursed together tightly and I could see the disappointment wash over her face just like I predicted. Seeing her like this made my heart hurt.
"Luke you lied to me." Her words trembled.A/N: I'm already thinking about which of the many stories I have up my sleeve that I should write next once this is completed.
