Quinn

The bass of the music sent vibrations throughout my body as it pumped through the speakers. This was Rileys idea to be here. I would have rather stayed home tonight but she has a crush on the host of the party and didn't want to come alone. His name is Michael and he goes to our school. Every time his parents had to go out of town for work he would throw a raging party on the ten or so acre property his family owned right outside of town. There wasn't a neighbor for few miles so the loud music was never a problem.

"I wish I knew where he went," Riley says looking around for Michael.

"I'm sure he's around entertaining his drunk guests," I huff. "Or getting laid."

"Quinn!" Riley slapped my arm. "Not funny. You know I like him."

"I know. I'm sorry Riley. You really should just tell him how you feel. You two still texting?"

Riley let out a sigh. " Yes, but he's caught up on some college chick. Her name is Amanda and from what he says she's really pretty. I don't think I have a chance against her."

Riley Anne, you shut your face before I hoe slap you." I look at her in disbelief. "You're beautiful and I'm sure this Amanda would look a road grease spot next to you."

Riley had silky brown hair you see models have in magazines. I always envy her looks and to hear her say this crap was disheartening. I would give anything to have her hair or her piercing green eyes.

Before Riley could say anything Michael and his colorful hair slides in between us and hooks one arm around Riley's waist and the other around mine pulling us in. "Can you smell that?" He asks sniffing the air and exhaling deeply.

"The stench of alcohol or the vomit of people who can't handle their alcohol?" I sarcastically say.

Michael let out an overly exaggerated laugh. "Someone needs another drink because my friend you are too feisty. I was, however, talking about the air fresher. My mom got a new scent and it smells like berries. I actually like it."

"I was wondering what that smell was. I think it smells very nice." Riley smiles and leans closer to him and I roll my eyes and move out of his hold.

"Michael, have you seen Calum by chance? He mentioned earlier he might come but I haven't seen him yet." I ask changing the subject. Originally before I got dragged here I told Calum I wasn't coming. So maybe he decided on other plans.

Michael shook his head. "I seen him for two literally two minutes but not since then and that was over an hour ago.  He looked kind of pale and panicky. Hopefully he hasn't taken what creepy Jack been passing around. I told him not to pass out shit at my parties or I was going to fuck him up.  Last thing I need is someone dying here or from something they took here. I'd for sure end up dead by my parents if so."

"You know you're right about another drink." I say looking into my empty cup. "I think I'll go find more whatever this fruity concoction is. Nice party as usually, Michael."

I give him the silly thumbs up left them to it. Riley now has the perfect chance to talk to him if she doesn't chicken out again. I better get good news tomorrow.

I walk over to the make shift bar now worrying about Calum. A tall and very pretty blonde hair, blue eyed girl with flower tattoos covering her shoulders was mixing drinks. She looks up from her work and smiles.

"You look like you need a strong one, hun."

I nodded and she hands me one of the drinks. I take it and gulp it down as if it was a shot.

"Careful." She warns. "It going to hit hard after a minute. What's got you anyways?"

"I'm here for moral support for my friend who apparently can't tell a guy she's head over heels for him and my boyfriend I guess bailed out. He didn't even know I was coming so I don't what I should have expected. Calum hasn't even messaged me all evening. It's kind of bull shit honestly though."

The girl who handed me the drink fumbles and drops the glass she was holding. "Oh no," she mumbled under her breath. "Please tell me you're not Quinn."

She looked put off and uncomfortable as I say, "The one and only."

"Oh sweetie..." she bites her lip nervously and looks around. "It's really not my place to tell you but I can't let you go on without you knowing because it doesn't feel right. Just know, I swear I didn't know about you until after the fact."

I look at her with a confused expression. What the hell is she talking about?

"Quinn, the last time Michael threw  a party Calum and I hooked up."

I felt my heart hit the pit of my stomach but shook my head. "The last time Michael threw a party Calum was gone with family to visit his grandmother."

The girl whose name I still haven't gotten shook her head. "No, he was here. He told me he was staying here at Michael's for the weekend. We just drank too much. It didn't mean anything but I know it's not right to hide it from you. I don't want to be that girl. I've heard a lot of good things about you since I found out he was dating someone. Mainly from Michael. Pretty sure Michael has a crush on me, but that besides the point."

I started putting everything together and it suddenly everything clicked from Calum's behavior lately to this moment in time.

The girl started talking again but I turn and walk away. The only thing on my mind now was getting home and writing back to Luke.

A/N:  well what do you think?
