"Haven't you ever just done anything for the fun of it? Or has it always just been to impress your mom?" The question came out of no where and I really didn't know how to respond. I've never had a problem with opening up to Kara about my life as a Luthor and I think that that goes without saying, but suddenly it just seems like that's all she asks about. I know she's curious and that she just wants to understand how I lived but to be honest all I want to do is forget about being a Luthor.

This is summer camp and as Kara puts it, "a chance to be a new you." Although hypocritically she's not letting me do that. When Kara realizes that I haven't responded she understands that the question is not going to be answered. "I-I'm sorry. Was that too personal or something?" Kara asked worriedly.

We are on our way back to the camp now and it couldn't be much later than seven yet. "Kara, you know that I have no problem opening up to you about -"

"Lena, it's okay. I get it."

"No, I mean- it's nothing about you or the question-"

"Lena," Kara chuckled as she stopped in her tracks and stood in front of me. Her tone was calm and insisted. Catching me off guard, I felt Kara take both of my hands into hers as she held them in a manner to comfort and assure me. I looked down at our hands, thinking about how soft her hands were and definitely about how perfect our hands fit together. "I get it." She then added in the same tone she used before. Her eyes were wide with promise, assuring me that she was speaking truthfully, warming me from the inside out.

I look down at our hands to find that they're still hand in hand and something about that threatens a smile to grace my face. "So you're not mad or anything?" I ask searching for a final piece of confirmation.

Kara laughs a obvious, amused chuckle that immediately made me feel self conscious for even asking, but I know deep down that that's the last feeling Kara would want to force on me. "Of course not! That's ridiculous and will never happen." She exclaims as if this should already be obvious.

I shake my head from side to side, stunned at how considerate and kind-hearted Kara is. I've never met a person like her and before I know it I'm daydreaming. About Kara!

"Now, were gonna head back to the tents and get things around, but," she paused on a strong note. "At tonight's camp fire, be prepared for a surprise." Kara anticipated as she dropped my hands and began to walk again.

I was left momentarily confused in my spot before I jogged slightly to catch up with her. "A surprise?" I ask.

"Yes, a surprise Lena. Must I remind you what-"

"Okay, smarty pants." I defensively spoke as I walked side by side Kara, looking over at her smug smirk. "What I meant was, another surprise? Seeing as though we just left one?" I justify my curiosity. Although Kara's smug smile just made me weak in the knees and I could have almost fainted in that exact moment.

Kara nodded enthusiastically. "I'm full of surprises Luthor. I don't think you could keep up with me." She challenged, instantly making me want to take on that bet.

"Uh, excuse me, but I think that I can." I argued defensively, almost offended that she would say such a thing. Kara's poker face was so detailed to every micro-expression that I was actually struggling to determine if she was teasing or not.

Kara stopped in her tracks again to stare into my eyes with those challenging blue ones. The ones that I've been staring into all day long already. "Well, we could see how this plays out you know, race back to the campsite for the fun of it," She emphasized the word. "But you know," she paused presumptuously, "Your mothers not here in order to approve it." She playfully counterattacked me, immediately turning in her heel afterwards and walking off.
