I sat crouched down in a little hut made out of a bush, tree branches and leaves. I don't know much about nature and the environment but if I had to guess, I'd say a big animal had made it. My reasoning for this is because the hut is very spacious, I could move around very easily to find better positions, but it's also extremely secluded. Meaning that anyone coming from the direction of the camp, would look at the hut from to outside and to them from that perspective, they would see nothing but a bush. Erin is absolutely never going to find me.
I can't be sure as to how long I've been hiding here, but it feels like it couldn't be any longer than 15 minutes. 10 at the least. I could hear faintly in the distance Erin's "ah-HA!" as she uncovers another campers hiding spot. I can't hear the other campers voice, and I can't understand why I am so fixated on wondering if she's got caught yet. Maybe I want the satisfaction that I beat Kara at a game she's probably been playing her entire lifetime. Maybe I just want the satisfaction of Kara near me, whether it's physical or mental. I really couldn't say.
Another few minutes went by. I have managed to find another comfortably position in which I could just sit and listen for Erin, but nothing was heard. Nothing was heard until a twig branch snapped and following that was a hushed "shit". The whisper almost sounding familiar. I then heard some leaves crumbling and in the exact second I heard another noise that I couldn't quite make out. A grunt maybe. Next thing I knew another person rolled into the hut, crashing right into me.
"Ouch." I hissed in pain as the body landed flat across my abdomen. The cold, hard, dirt covered ground was no aid to my landing either.
The unknown person began to quickly scramble off of me while I attempted to wiggle out from underneath them as well. When I was finally free, I was met with a very familiar tone of apology. "I'm sorry. I didn't know-"
"Kara?" I cut her off in a tone of assurance.
"Lena?" Kara confirmed in her own curiosity. Following our identifications came a fit of laughter in which we both participated in. We both tried to keep our laughter suppressed as much as we could, but neither one of us really did. Our laughs in unison were infectious to one another which only caused us to carry on our laughter. It was a perfect moment.
Finally through our laughter reality hit me in what was actually going on and in which the whole point of the game mainly was to stay hidden. Through the darkness I managed to find Kara's shoulders and I gripped each one with each hand. I then managed to break my laughter long enough to let out a hushed "shh" until Kara obliged. "You're gonna get us caught." I warn her in a whisper.
Kara scoffed at my warning which proved that she wasn't worried at all about being caught. "Erin will never find us." She states confidently. Smugly to be exact and for her smug, over confident tone, well I don't exactly know where I was going with this but it made me feel some sort of way.
Oh..Kara always makes me feel some sort of way.
"You know, that's exactly what I thought right before you came tumbling in." I inform her as to try and prove my valid point with evidence to back it up. I try to keep my voice quiet and low in case Erin is near by, eavesdropping somewhere although Kara doesn't have a care in the world.
"If Erin knew where this place was, me and her would have to have a one on one talk." Kara stated nonchalantly as she used a tone of authority. It was almost like a motherly tone.
Her change in manner struck my interest, causing me to grow curious following that. "What why? Is this place like too far from the camp site, or something?" I ask enthusiastically as I find myself leaning in towards Kara, ready to hear the gossip.
I could hear Kara's light chuckles before she conjured her response into words and not just thoughts for herself to hear. "No, uhm. This is actually what campers...some campers call the..uh-'The Make Out Hut.'" Kara finally reveals as she sounded very proud of herself for some reason I couldn't quite pick out.
