I wake up and I wash my face.
Then I leave a sleeping Alexius in my room while I go out and dial the familiar number to my parents landline.
I start rambling as soon as they pick up.
"They can't do that, pumpkin. I'll make sure of it, don't you worry. You will get married to who you like, when you like. They are not taking that away." My dad assures me. I sigh out in relief.
"Thanks dad. I really needed to hear that. I am finally reassured." While talking to them I also finally realized something else. The unknown feeling I have been experiencing in their presence is resentment and anger. I know it should have been obvious, they did lie to me for 16 years. But I have never felt that way about them before. I think I needed to see just how horrible my biological parents are to forgive my amazing adoptive ones.
"Now, will you help me plan my revenge? After all you are my partner in crime." I add to my father.
"I don't know, honey." He states unconvincingly, "Oh well, all right. It's just for fun isn't it? I guess I'll help you then." He says almost immediately while I and mom laugh a little.
I think it's still a little early to call Jenna, so I just send her another text, reassuring her that I'll be calling her soon.
I had just hit send when I bump into someone, again. I look up to see Archer smiling down at me.
Gosh, how can someone manage to look so good so early in the morning. His gorgeous green eyes look at me and I feel my heart beat faster. Though the fact that my biological parents like him so much is very off putting. Nothing is a better turn off than your parents liking the guy you think is cute way more than you do.
"Are you okay?" Archer initially scans me with concern and then with appreciation, which makes me blush. Okay, so he still affects me a little. Not good.
"Yeah, I am fine. Though, I think I am lost." I give him a sheepish smile like 'oops'.
He chuckles at my expression and questions, "Where are you going?"
"I was thinking of taking a walk." I point at the running shoes I am wearing that I found in my closet.
"What a coincidence, I was going for a run too. Come I'll show you the way." He says and I notice that he is indeed wearing a work out outfit and he looks hot, "It's in the opposite direction to where you are headed." He adds.
I give him another embarrassed smile and we start to walk together.
"So the sunflowers must be back in business." I have no idea why I just said that. The awkward silence was getting too hard for me to bear. "I mean the Sun's up." I point out, which might have been a little too obvious, "So they must be following him, I mean it, once again." I complete sheepishly and add, "I'll just stop talking now." I look down towards the ground to hide my embarrassed blush.
He laughs for a good thirty seconds before saying, "I feel happy that you remember our conversation and that you actually paid attention to what I said."
I look at him in confusion, "Of course, why wouldn't I?"
"Well, most people ignore my random bits of information." He shrugs like whatever.
"Well, they are idiots. It's adorable and endearing, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You shouldn't have to change to fit society's norms of acceptable." I reply passionately thinking about the few times people have called Jenna eccentric. I hate when someone questions themselves due to what others think of them.
