I am such an idiot.
"What? Oh my god! I was just playing around. Oh no. I thought she knew." I place a hand on my mouth.
Stupid mouth saying things without thinking.
"Apparently when it comes to your boyfriends you girls loose all sense of what to trust and what not to." Gabe comments, still chuckling lightly to himself.
"Oh and you have so much experience don't you? How many girlfriends have you had exactly, Gabby." Sarah mocks him. It is no secret that Gabe wasn't exactly the lets-get-serious kind of guy. So I think she hit home with that one.
"How many times do I have to tell you not to call me that?" Gabe's smile fades and he looks at Sarah in annoyance which I know is clearly an act.
"Until you realise I'm not actually listening to you." Sarah places a hand at her waist sassily.
The pair of them continue bickering but instead of listening to them, I overlook how entertaining their silly jabs are and make my way to the fighting couple to fix things. It goes well enough. Ashley believes me and accepts my apology saying that we all make mistakes and that I was just having fun. I tell her that I'm grateful she understands and after saying good bye and a see you later I make my way to history, which is a bit hard since I forget the way, even though it has almost been two months that we have been going here but I am still new and all. I was alone, might I add, because being the great friends they are, my group had left me behind to fend for myself. What friends are for, right?
Now it is lunch and I am sitting next to Sarah who seems a bit down to me. She isn't being her usual perky self and bitching about the front benchers rather she is sullenly munching on her peanut and butter sandwich.
She had offered me part of it but I had told her peanut butter was something I could live without, to say she was shocked would be an understatement. But hey, in my defence people were allowed to have their own preferences weren't they.
"What's up? You don't look well." I ask Sarah, giving her a once over. There is definitely something off about her.
"Nah I'm fine. Don't worry about me." She says, attempting to give me half a smile but it just turns a bit sad and distracted.
I look at what she is staring at and see Jenna and Gabe lost in conversation. They are both laughing at something. If someone saw them then, they'd see they have some kind of great chemistry and I think Sarah is misinterpreting that.
"Sarah why don't you just tell him how you feel? Jenna doesn't like him that way. Believe me she's my best friend, I know it. She has her eyes on another price. Kidding! Though I know she likes someone else and sees Gabe as just a good friend. I'm sure of it." I say comfortingly. It's true anyways. Jenna, Alex and I have spent a lot of time together the past month and now I'm sure they do like each other.
"He knows. I mean in a way he does. You know how he is. In past he's already been with so many girls but then he'd always come back here, to me. But if I ever tried going out with someone he'd go all protective and scare the guy away. It's like he is afraid of something. Whether it's losing me or falling for me, I don't know. But that's not fair, right? I can't move on. Go out with other people. But he's all free to talk to whoever he wishes." Sarah's voice turns from sad to angry.
"Sarah what are you waiting for then? Some miracle? Those things don't happen on their own. You have to make your own choices. This is your life. You don't have to have his permission to live it. Don't waste it waiting, if he is the one then he'll come around on his own. But don't let him hold you down from living a beautiful and wonderful story. You are this story's writer. You choose the chapters not some thickheaded dumb guy who can't see what an amazing person he's missing out on." I place a hand over her's.
