The whole world was going in slow motion. I was lost in a blur of noisy sirens, flashing lights, and people running all around as I stood there, unable to move.
The next thing I know I am in an ambulance, feeling claustrophobic as I'm surrounded by beeping machines, rushing EMTS and unfamiliar scents and noises.
My vision was fogged, due to the seemingly endless tears rushing down my cheeks. A woman wearing a medical uniform takes a seat next to me, comforting me in a warm hug, whispering reassuring things, making conversation about the baby to keep my mind off of things.
Although it did take my minds off things, Daniels sudden loud groans and cries ruined my moment of calm. I instantly jerk away from the woman to see Daniel lying on a table, kicking and screaming as he is given shots, and poked at.
After about of minute of watching Daniel going through extreme pain, I look away, unable to watch the love of my life going through such pain.
I sob, trying my best to drown out the noise, until all the sounds come to a sudden stop. I turn to look at Daniel again, and he lies on the table, an oxygen mask over his mouth. He is no longer kicking and moving around. He is lying there still, a peaceful expression on his face.
My loud sobs turn into much quieter ones as I was easily able to calm down seeing Daniel in such a state of peace. The only thing I worried about was if he would survive this whole ordeal. The lady had walked away a few moments ago, and came over to me with a clipboard.
She explained how I could just sign the paperwork where I was rather than filling it in at the hospital. I asked how far away from the hospital, and she told me we would be there in a moment. I questioned her on what was going to be done to Daniel upon our arrival, and she just explained how the bullet we able to be removed from where it was fired into his chest, and that he would have to go get the wound cleaned and stitched up.
I worked my way through a few pages of paperwork, filling out the general information the hospital needed for their records.
When we finally pulled up to the hospital, after what seemed to be the longest ride of my life, I stood up, carefully placing a kiss on Daniels cheek. He was still asleep, having been put under a while ago so he wouldn't feel the pain of a bullet being ripped out of his chest.
I watched, tears still running down my cheeks, as they pulled him out of the vehicle. I was led by the nice woman from earlier to a waiting room for people waiting to see their loved ones after operations and such. I pulled out my phone and called the boys, and explained the situation, and within minutes I was wrapped in Jonah's arms as the boys tried their best to comfort me I as began to cry again.
About an hour later, the nurse comes out and looks at us with a sweet smile.
"You can go in and see daniel now. He is just waking up so be very quiet as he is sensitive to sound as of right now due to the medicine he was given earlier. He has just started breathing on his own as he was struggling for a little bit." She tells us, her voice gentle and sweet.
"You go see him first Autumn. We will be out here." Jonah says, as the others nod their head.
I nod, and walk over to the door, and slowly open it. I see Daniel, lying in bed, in a loose hospital gown, looking very out of it.
I walk over to his bedside and sit down in the chair that has been set there for me. I take his freezing hand in mine, and he slowly turns to face me, a smile on his face.
"Hey baby." He says, his voice raspy.
I squeeze his hand as a few more tears drip from my eyes.
"I am so so sorry Dani." I bring his hand to my face, and cry into it.
He slowly reaches up and touches my hair, and i look down at him.
"This is not your fault. There is nothing to be sorry for. I am okay. Don't worry about me. The only thing I'm worried about is my beautiful girlfriend and my soon to come baby girl." He smiles, and I smile through my tears, bringing his hand back down to where it was resting on the bed, my hand still tightly clasped to his.
"I love you Daniel." I say, rubbing his hand with my thumb.
"I love you too Autumn." He smiles at me, and then closes his eyes, the medicine having its effect on how tired he is.
I kiss his forehead lightly.
"We are going to get through this."
