Hey reader!
It's me, reading this through for the first time in two years or so. I've noticed this fic is still getting reads and votes, which I'm very grateful for. I am starting to edit a few chapters slightly just for personal preference. However, there are some issues I'd like to address with a more updated mind.
The intention of this story was to bring light a huge issue in modern society - domestic violence against men. Toxic phrases such as 'man up' are still used, and so many male victims of DV don't come forward or are prejudiced against in our legal systems. Perhaps many of the situations in this story are slightly exaggerated, however I felt it necessary to do so in order to pack a good punch.
Despite the fact that I make my message pretty clear in this book, and I've never actually been called out for it, I'd just like to make several things clear:
I DO NOT glorify or condone abusive relationships.
I DO NOT believe it would be cute or hot if Brendon were to actually be in this situation.
I am NOT invalidating any other form of abusive relationship, and I believe that all cases of domestic abuse should be treated equally.
Audrey is a character of my own creation, and never has or will represent anyone Brendon's ever been with.
I hope this makes my opinions clearer if they aren't conveyed properly in my writing. If you have any opinions on the matter, don't be afraid to leave them in the comments!
Thanks, and enjoy the story!
