“Draco!!” I threw myself on him and started sobbing.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa,” he exclaimed and hugged me awkwardly, “What’s up? Happy to see me?”
I cried harder. Harry and Ginny were together. The hurt that was suppressed inside me for so long suddenly took hold of me.
“Let’s get out of here,” Draco said. I had never noticed how manly he was until he had hugged me just then. We were right outside the hospital wing.
“Okay,” I agreed. Suddenly, hysteria took hold of me and I caught his hand and started running towards the Room of Requirement. “I have to show you something!” I laughed, although tears were still in my eyes. “Careful Elvis!” he cautioned me for himself but didn’t stop me. I was about to make him enter the Room of Requirement with me but… Filch saw us.
“Well, well, well,” Filch and Mrs. Norris came menacingly towards us. “If it isn’t for the two runaways?” The words ‘two runaways’ raised chills down my spine. Involuntarily, Draco and I backed. Suddenly Filch laughed and rubbed his hands together gleefully, “Finally I’ve met some mischief makers that I can punish!”
“What wrong have we done?” Draco demanded.
“Walking at the corridors at this hour of the night…”
“It’s just 8:30 PM. And plus, I’ve just been released from the hospital ward. We have broken no rules.”
Filch looked like a deflated balloon. He wobbled towards us angrily, “I know you two have been up to something. I just have to catch you at it! You just be careful!”
He waved his filthy nails at his. I could even smell his pungent breath; he was that close.
“Back off,” Draco snarled, his hands protectively winding around mine. Filch saw our hands and smiled sneeringly.
“I’m waiting for just one excuse to make you see the worst days of your lives,” he warned us again. “Come on Mrs. Norris!”
Once he was out of sight, Draco asked me, “What were you about to show me?”
“Nothing,” I sighed, “Filch is right. He means what he said. He has just been waiting for an excuse. We should not give him that. I’ll tell you tomorrow. I want it to be a surprise.” I smiled to myself thinking of how happy he would be. Days of torture was going to be over for him!
“Let’s go. You don’t want the other prefects to see you. They’ll think you’re on a date.”
“Let them,” he yawned.
We strolled our way until we reached the Gryffindor common room. “Goodnight,” I bid him.
“Night,” he said and kissing me lightly on the cheek, went away.

“Elvis,” Hermione smiled at me when I entered. I smiled back.
“I’m sorry about Harry and Ginny… it’s just that…”
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
“You shouldn’t keep feeling hurt. They… they… I don’t know how to break it to you but, Ginny had a crush on Harry for as long as 6 years and Harry, well, he liked her back too. They…. They fit perfectly Elvis.”
Tears welled up in my eyes.
“Elvis don’t be sad. I know you liked Harry since last year and Harry cares for you too Elvis. I just know. He cared a lot last year. Even now he does. Although he might suspect you, he still cares. He always wanted to apologize to you for bringing you along to the Ministry of Magic; he still thinks it’s his fault.”
