- Rin's POV -
I had burst through the door, I almost collapsed because I had been running so fast I didn't even have time to catch my breath. Sweat dripped down my face as I wheezed, trying to inhale air.
"Y...Yukio-" I was cut off by a small coughing spasm, "W-Where's my sword...!"
Yukio turned around, facing me.
"You left it in the classroom, you're lucky I had to go back for paperwork I had left there or else I wouldn't have grabbed it." Yukio muttered, unimpressed as he held a red sash.
Thank god! I'm not gonna die today! Although I'm still probably gonna get a lecture anyways, but I don't care at this point.
"Eheh....Thanks..." I mumbled, as I was finally able to catch my breath.
"Mhm....can you try to not forget the most important object in your life, I'm tired of babysitting you." Yukio rolled his eyes, tossing me the sash which held my sword in it.
I caught it and stuck my tongue out, "Fine, but I'm going to sleep."
"It's early though...?" Yukio seemed confused, as he crossed his arms.
"Too bad, I'm sleeping." I ended the conversation there, I practically dragged myself up the stairs because I was very tired from running and just today in general.
I made it to my room and flopped onto my bed, I immediately passed out from exhaustion on the comfortable mattress.
- Kaneki's POV -
I was close to finishing the assigned homework, I think if I had known more this would have been much easier to do. It was about demonology, but I apparently couldn't remember what a Coal Tar was. I'm not the type of person who skips their homework, but today it had to be done, it was just too much for now and I don't have the experience for it yet.
'Alright then....time to open up that sash, I guess..' I thought, putting my pencil down on top of my paper, neatly as I stood up and walked over to where I had put the sash.
I hesitated a bit, taking my white eyepatch off and putting it on my dresser, I picked up the sash and messed with the buckles until they would open. When I had finally gotten it open, I had been holding it sideways so the object that was in there had slipped out and onto the floor with a short clang.
'What is this...?' I wondered, hesitating to pick it up off the floor, 'It's a weapon....'
After a solid twenty seconds I picked up the weapon, I knew it was a sheathed sword because of its appearance. The question is though....should I unsheathe it? Finally the temptations got the best of me, I slowly unsheathed the sword a tiny bit, but was greeted with blue flames coming off of the sword.
"What the!" Out of fear, instinct and surprise I sheathed the sword, dropping it on the ground, I already knew it wasn't ordinary.
- Rin's POV -
A couple of minutes before....
My eyes slowly opened, I actually slept pretty good. My vision wasn't fully clear when I looked down at my hand, but I could see something....something blue...Wait a minute it's me!
"Holy-" I was cut off, once again I had been tangled in the bedsheets, and hit my head on the floor, this time it hurt more because I hit the back of my skull while falling backwards, off the side of the bed, "Agh!!"
Pain shot through my head, I forgot I was still holding my red sash. Before I could inspect if my sword was unsheathed, the blue flames went away within a heartbeat.
'Why...why did I spark up...?!' I thought, confusion flooded through me as my demon tail had unwrapped and started lashing freely, now that it was exposed.
I quickly scrambled to unbuckle my sash, but with some effort I managed to do so. I pulled out my sheathed sword, inspecting it.
'Nothing's wrong with it...was it just me...?' I wondered, I was even more confused than before, I know I tended to flame up without the sword before but that was usually when I was mad or in danger, I hadn't had a nightmare either so it doesn't make sense.
I finally got up, unable to understand what had happened, I put my sheathed sword back into the sash and put it on my back. This time, I would for sure keep this close to me 24/7.
- Kaneki's POV -
I stared at the sword I had dropped, still stunned by the flames, which luckily hadn't burned me. Now I knew that I clearly wasn't supposed to have drawn that, and that I am not supposed to have this.
'What do I do now...do I....keep it....' I wondered, I needed to figure out a way to keep it hidden at least.
An idea sparked to me, I carefully but quickly grabbed the sword, put it back into the red sash and shoved it under my bed. I let out a sigh and sat in a chair, I put my hand up and cracked one of my fingers, feeling nervous and tensed. I glanced outside the window to see a sunset...a beautiful sunset...a sunset to represent the end of another long day.
