Rin |Chapter 9|

- Kaneki's POV -

My Kakugan is active I just know it, all this blood will just make it worse, which is why I have my left eye closed. I can't hurt Rin, I won't, he can hurt me all he wants but he's my friend, a friend that changed my life.

"Rin, I need you to snap out-" My jaw ached and I stopped for a second, "Of it!"

Rin let out a loud yell, he seemed to be struggling as both of his hands were grasped to the sides of his own head.

"Rin!" I called out again, but was met with a harsh snarl and a kick, which sent me backwards again.

'It's no use....n-no...he's in pain.....I know far too well how it feels, so I'm going to keep trying..' I thought, getting back up, if he needed a punching back then that's what he gets!

- Rin's POV -

Happiness.....destroying my happiness...my gaze darkened and I lowered my head down, as a shadow casted down on my face. I guess I really did have a little demon inside of me, even as a kid. It's him. It was always him.

"I....I-I'll burn your friends until there's no ashes...!" The younger me protested, yelling more as his enlightened eyes glowed, "You're Satan's son after all....it's your job to incinerate them all!!"

'No, don't you dare...!' My thoughts kept echoing off the non existent walls, and I swung my fist at the younger me.

The younger me stepped back, dodging my attempt at a punch. The blue flames crept closer to me, this time they tried to reach out and grab me.

"Agh!!" I felt my right hand catch on fire, but what surprised me the most was that I managed to scream, out of my thoughts....what I didn't know was that I was also screaming in the real world too.

- Kaneki's POV -

I flinched as Rin let out a loud, disturbing scream, I felt myself twitch and I instinctively ran at Rin, throwing my arms around him in a tight hug.

"R-Rin...I'm here...I'll t-try....and get you out...!" I struggled with my jaw still, hugging him still as he twitched in my grasp, "That's what a true friend would do, I want you to be my best friend!"

- Rin's POV -

"I want you to be my best friend!" I heard Kaneki yell, and that made my gaze light back up, as I looked up, ignoring my burning hand.

"K-Kaneki...." I managed to stutter out, and I stood up.

"You're not going anywhere!" The younger me yelled, forcing the blue flames up my legs, and they started to burn, "You'll be trapped here like how I was!"

I flinched, my legs were burning, but I refused to give into pain, I faced the younger me with a sharp glare. I suddenly burst into my demon form, having the blue flames in their normal places.

"No...these are my flames!!" I yelled, a burst of blue flames came off of me, the flames on my legs disappeared and the one on my hand.

The blue flames shot at the younger me, starting to burn him slowly.

"N-no...!" The younger me cried, tears started to stream down his face again, "D-don't kill m-me!!"

"You're nothing but a fake, you're the real demon, not me!" I yelled, the flames grew wildly and burned the younger me faster.

Within seconds, the younger me was no longer existent, I had burned him to nothingness. I was left heaving, the blue flames disappeared and I saw Kaneki from the open spot. I ran as fast as I could, jumping at the blank spot to disappear from my consciousness.

- Kaneki's POV -

I looked up at Rin, still refusing to open my left eye, I realized the flames on him were gone and I froze. Was this good...?

"R-Rin...?" I hesitantly asked, my voice was almost a whisper.

Rin's eyes had been closed, they flickered open, and he gasped, "Kaneki...?!"

My hunger stabbed at my stomach, but I looked at Rin, hopefully, "I'm glad you're okay now.."

I let go of Rin, allowing him to stand up, I watched as he grabbed the knife and tore it out of his arm, forcefully. Bits of blood dripped onto the floor, which caused me to drool a bit more. I quickly tried to wipe it away, but then realized how hopeless it was as it kept coming out.

"...I guess that my secret was just revealed now, eheh..." Rin brought up, his tail twitched a bit, as he covered the already healing spot where he had pulled the knife out.

"I-I guess..." I wasn't really sure what else I could've said.

Rin inhaled, then sighed a bit, "Yep, I'm the son of Satan, the underworld demon king who incinerates anything in his path..."

"You're not like that though." I protested, almost immediately, "You're my best friend, you managed to break through, that's courage!"

"Hm....I guess you're right then." Rin gave me a playful pat on the shoulder, giving his grin he was known for.

I gave a faint smile, but felt jabbing hunger pains in my stomach once again.

"R-Rin...I need to-" I was cut off, when I heard the sound of a door opening again, the metallic sound piercing my ears for a third time now.

"What the..." Rin looked over at the door, his tail lashing.

Just then, two girls stepped out of the doorway, as it closed behind them. One had red hair, while the other one had black hair. What stood out the most to me though were their eyes....they were Kakugan. They were ghouls.
