Half |Chapter 10|

- Kaneki's POV -

Ghouls...why were they here...? I faced the two female Ghouls, hesitating slightly.

"Who are you...?!" Rin made an outburst, he stood up tall seeming strong, but I could tell his wounds were throbbing as he winced a bit.

"Fight." The black haired girl spat out, emotionlessly, she started running at us, alongside the red haired girl.

Out of pure hatred I jumped in front of Rin before he could even dare try anything, I whipped my fist, connecting it with the face of the black haired girl, sending her backwards. A satisfying snap could be heard from her jaw and cheek, indicating I had most likely broken it.

- Rin's POV -

Jesus, did you see that punch!? That punch sounded harsh, Ouch....

"Woah..." An amazed whisper came out, as I stood there in shock...Wait a minute isn't it my job to be helping Kaneki...?

As I stood there as if I was lost in space, Kaneki had grabbed the red haired girl by the shoulders, in mid run. He then slammed his knee into her rib cage area, as another unsettling snap broke through the air. God this is making me get the chill...!

"Kaneki! Dude that was awesome!" I burst out cheerfully, my tail wagging as if I was an excited dog.

Kaneki twitched a bit, staring at the red haired girl who was holding her ribs in pain, while the black haired girl was laying on her back, farther away.

"Need...it....n...now.." I could hear Kaneki talking nonsense, as he wrapped his arms around his stomach, seeming to be in pain.

"Kaneki...are you Okay..?" I approached him cautiously, grabbing his shoulder.

"Give it to me!!!" Kaneki yelled, turning to face me with drool streaming from his mouth, with his left eye closed.

- Kaneki's POV -

What have I done!? I'm drooling...oh no...oh no! No....I know Rin's secret, I have to tell him mine now....it's my only choice. Before I could attempt to do anything, I felt something grab me by the ankle, starting to drag me away.

"Let me go!" I yelled, I forced out a weak part of my Rinkaku Kagune, it was harshly flimsy and there was only one 'tentacle' but I could make this work still!

I sliced off what grabbed me by the ankle, it had been the black haired girl's Bikaku Kagune. She had sneak attacked me which was actually really smart, but now her Kagune would have to regenerate. My flimsy Kagune almost immediately faded away, I was too hungry....I couldn't bare it anymore.

"....Kaneki..?" Rin approached me, he seemed more concerned than anything else.

"Get away!" I turned so I wasn't facing Rin, tears welled at the corner of my eyes a bit, as my left eye which was Kakugan opened slowly, "I'm gonna...h-hurt you..."

- Rin's POV -

"Kaneki, a while ago I was beating on you, don't you think it's only fair..!" I retorted, my pointed ears now picking up a sound.

Was Kaneki like these girls too....were we both hiding something all this time? We've come so far to the point where we would use our powers to help each other. I still have yet to understand Kaneki though...

"I-I....I was going to...t-tell you but....I-I'm just...so sorry..." Kaneki sounded like he was whimpering a bit.

My ears twitched again, and without even looking or drawing my sword which for some reason was still on my back, apparently not taken away. I scorched the other girl's red...tail thingy, before it reached either of us. I heard the girl scream, and I made the flames stop once I knew it was safe.

"..Kaneki, just look at me already..." I narrowed my eyes, waiting for him to turn around.

Kaneki hesitantly turned around, the first thing I spotted was his left eye, it was black and red like the girl's' eyes were. I grabbed his shoulders, forcing him to face me.

"What do you need." My question turned into a command, looking him directly in the eyes, his were streaming tears.

"I-I n-need....flesh..." Kaneki mumbled, looking down in shame.

"Then flesh is what you'll get." I responded simply, pulling up the sleeve to my shirt, so I exposed more of my skin, "Eat as much as you want."

- Kaneki's POV -

I hesitated a lot, before my savage hunger side broke through my pleads to not devour the flesh. I grabbed Rin's arm quickly, sinking my teeth into his flesh, tearing off parts of it and swallowing it, to satisfying my hunger. I felt Rin wince a couple of times, until I pulled away....why Rin...how can I ever pay you back....you're too nice.

'This digs up a memory I never wanted to remember....No...I have control this time....I won't let myself do that again...' I thought, I pulled away from a Rin's arm, as his blood dripped from my mouth and teeth.

Rin had his teeth clenched, while looking away from me. He then turned to face me, giving a grin.

"Ah come on...you could've eaten my whole arm for all I care." Rin smirked, jokingly.

I looked at Rin, wiping his blood away from my mouth. I shook my head a bit, giving a faint smile.

"....no...you're arms don't taste good." I joked, chuckling a bit,

"Hey!" Rin started laughing, "Aw come on, I took a shower two days ago..oh wait...pfft..!"

I watched Rin's arm healing at a high speed, my hunger had faded and all I could do was laugh a bit.

"Kaneki...Hmph, you're tough even without being fed..." A new voice suddenly spoke, and I turned seeing it was the red haired girl.

I turned to the girl, cracking one of my fingers again.

I'm not afraid now..." I challenged, giving off a harsh glare.

"Sorry for the delusion...heh...we had to act or else we'd be put to death..." The red haired girl muttered, trying to stand up but only managed to sit up with her broken ribs.

"What's that mean...?" Rin asked, his tail was waving around freely.

"We're gonna help you get out of here." Another new voice spoke, the three of us both turned to see the black haired girl, standing up and walking over to us.
