Dax, my dad, and I had both trucks packed up with everything our small apartment had, minus the furniture and beds. My dad got in his truck while Dax and I got in ours. When Dax was born my dad stepped up a little more and was really helpful.
"Hey mama?" Dax asked.
"Yeah Dax?" I said back.
"Do you think I'll make new friends at my school?" He asked.
"Of course baby. You know how to make friends better than anyone I know." I said glancing over at him.
"I'm excited to move, but I'm scared at the same time." He said.
"I am too bud, but we'll make it. My job let me transfer to the building they have here doing the same thing I was doing, making the same amount of money, but we'll have more of it cause the farm is already paid for. All we have to do is take care of the horses." I said.
"There's horses? That is so cool!" Dax said getting excited.
"Yeah, you'll get to see my old horse, Spartan and I think the lawyer said something about a colt being delivered on the day we move in because there's an empty stale that a certain Great Grandson didn't get to put a horses name on." I said smiling over at Dax.
"I get my own horse?" He asked practically jumping out of his seat.
"Yeah, grandpa bought it for you right before he passed." I said.
"That is so awesome." Dax said.
"It's pretty cool having your own horse." I said. The next ten minutes were spent listening to the radio until Brantley Gilbert's song Country Must Be Country Wide came on the radio. Dax loves Brantley Gilbert he turned the radio up put his baseball hat on backwards and started along with the song.
"From his wranglers to his boots he reminded me of Chris Ledox with that Copenhagen smile yeah country must be country wide. Every state there's a station playin Cash, Hank, Willie, and Waylon, foreign cars and four wheel drives, there's cowboys and hillbillies, farm towns to big cities, there ain't no doubt in my mind country must be country wide." Dax sang. I love hearing him sing he has a great voice for an eight year old.
"Do you ever think I'll be able to go to one of his concerts and meet him?" Dax asked.
"One day baby. I promise you and me will go meet Brantley Gilbert." I said smiling.
"You're the best." Dax said smiling.
"Anything for my little man." I said smiling.
*Brantley's P.O.V.*
It feels good to be back home after that long ass tour. I can't wait to get on my bike and ride around with some of the guys. I heard that Mark Fleming died while I was gone it's a shame he was good man. I wonder what they're gonna do with his house. Just for the hell of it I decided to detour that way to my house. I was riding by when I saw two trucks up there moving stuff in. I saw a little kid run out of the house and grab a box then a really pretty girl come out. I decided to go up and help them they are kind of my neighbors. I pulled up the driveway and the kid was coming out of the house he watched my truck pull up beside him and then he ran in the house. I got out and heard him talking.
"Mama someone's here!" I heard him yell. Well damn a whole family that's a new one.
"Okay. Tell em to come on in." I heard her say she sounded way to young to be that boys mom. He came back out and stopped in his tracks and his jaw dropped. Guess he's a fan.
"You're, but how, what? Oh my god!" He said freakin out a little.
"I live up the road and saw y'all movin in thought I'd help out." I said.
