Brantley and Dax are out at the pond fishing or goofing off, probably both. I didn't want to go since I'm eight months pregnant and four wheelers are very uncomfortable. I was waddling into the kitchen to get a drink when I felt a sharp pain in my stomach and then my water broke. Lovely, my phones in the living room and I need different pants. I slowly waddled back into the living room and grabbed my phone.
I quickly dialed Brantley's number and waited for him to answer his phone.
"Payton? Are you okay?" Brantley asked as soon as he answered.
"No, my water broke." I said trying not to freak Brantley out.
"Dax! Get on the four wheeler now and hold on tight. We'll be right there baby. Just breath." Brantley said.
"Yeah. I got it. Be careful." I said knowing Brantley was going to be flying.
"I will be. I love you, Payton." Brantley said.
"I love you too. Now hurry up." I said and hung up my phone.
I waffled to the laundry room to grab a pair of Brantley's clean sweatpants to change into. He's just gonna have to deal with it. I heard the four wheeler pulling up, then the front door bust open revealing Kolby.
"I was already on my way over. Come on." He said coming over to me like I needed help walking.
"I can walk, Kolby." I said but still took his arm.
Kolby chuckled, "I know waddles."
I sent a glare Kolby's way and he laughed again."I'm here, Payton." Brantley said coming to my other side. These two I swear. I didn't fight with them I just let them help me into Brantley's truck as we sped off to the hospital. Brantley and Kolby helped me out of the truck and Dax stayed by my side the whole time.
"My girlfriends water broke." Brantley pretty much yelled when we got into the hospital.
A nurse came out from behind the counter, "Sir, calm down please. I understand that you're excited but we need you to take a deep breath." The nurse said.
Brantley took a deep breath but I know he wasn't going to calm down. I was slightly freaking out on the inside, our son is going to be here today.
I was brought back to a room and the nurse hooked me up and checked me out.
"Alright, miss Fleming looks like you're six centimeters. You're little one should be here in the next few hours." The nurse said looking between Brantley and I.
"Thank you." I said with a smile.
The nurse nodded and left the room, Brantley was right by my side."Our son is going to be here in just a few hours." Brantley repeated with a huge smile.
I nodded, "I know baby. I can't wait to meet him." I said rubbing my belly.
"I'm going to go let Kolby and Dax know. I'm gonna call mama and your dad too. Will you be okay by yourself for a few minutes?" Brantley asked.
"I'll be okay. I'm not going to have this baby without you beside me." I said.
Brantley smiled and kissed my lips before walking out of the room.
I sighed and rubbed my belly, "I can't wait to hold you in my arms. You're going to have so many people that are going to spoil you and love on you." I said talking to my belly, "Ryker Keith Gilbert and Dax Michael Gilbert, both my baby boys." I said reaching up and wiping a stray tear away.
Brantley walked back into the room and saw the look on my face, "Baby, you're not allowed to cry." He said.
I cleared my throat, "No promises. Brantley you realize that our first son is sitting out in that waiting room right now and we're going to be meeting our second son for the first time in a few hours?" I said sniffling a few times.
Brantley grabbed my hand, "You can cry when he's here cause I'm sure that I will too." Brantley said and kissed my hand.
Everyone had been back here at one time or another to tell me congratulations or it'll only hurt for a little while. I'm now fully dilated and I'm getting ready to push. I had a hold of Brantley's hand and had warned him that it was going to hurt but he told me it was all worth it. I started pushing and of course it hurt but all that pain went away when I heard the sound of our son crying. He was here, our son was in the world. Once the nurses cleaned him up they handed him to me. I held our son in my arms and a few tears started to fall he was perfect. He had Brantley's nose, brown hair, little pink lips, ten fingers, ten toes, and the most precious little face.
"He's perfect baby. You did amazing." Brantley said running his thumb over Ryker's head and giving me a kiss on the forehead.
"I love you, Brantley." I said looking up at him.
"I love you too, Payton." Brantley said.
"Do you want to hold your son?" I asked Brantley.
I saw the nervous look on his face but he nodded his head yes, the nurse took Ryker from me and handed him to Brantley helping him hold Ryker correctly.
I watched as Brantley stared at Ryker taking in his every feature. I saw the tears brim his eyes as he wiped them away.
"He's precious." Becky's voice sounded through the room.
I looked over at the door and smiled, "Thank you." I said.
Becky walked in and hugged me she pulled her camera out and took a picture of Brantley holding Ryker.
"Brantley, come over here with Payton so I can get a picture of all three of you." Becky instructed.
Brantley stood up carefully and I scooted over so he could sit beside me, "Mama, grab my phone and take a picture with that first." Brantley said nodding towards his phone sitting in the chair.
Becky took the picture with Brantley's phone and took the picture with her camera.
"Well, Ryker didn't come on your birthday." I said looking at Ryker.
Brantley shook his head, "No, but that's okay. He's here now and that's all that matters." Brantley said and placed a soft kiss on Ryker's head.
The nurse had to take Ryker again for his tests and what not. So I decided that I was going to take a little nap since I was worn out. I laid my head on Brantley's shoulder since he was still sitting beside me and drifted off to sleep.
