*Payton's P.O.V.*

I was gettin in the shower and I couldn't help but think of how Brantley was with Dax today. I wanted someone like that for both of us. He was just an all around nice guy and it made me attracted to him. When I saw Cole on the news and Brantley stayed there to comfort me it just made me want him that much more. He didn't judge me based on what happened in my past. I couldn't just throw myself at him though Dax really looks up to him and if we did get involved and things went bad Dax wouldn't look up to him anymore, and if we did get together that would get Dax's hopes up on finally having a dad I didn't know if Brantley wanted that responsibility of having to at least act like the father figure in Dax's life. I guess I'm just going to have to see how things go between us and try to pick up on any hints that Brantley might drop. I don't know it's just so confusing and so not what I should be worrying about right now. I let the idea slip my mind the best I could and finished my shower before going to bed. That night I dreamt of Brantley and I as a couple with Dax calling Brantley dad and another little boy running after a dog. We had a happy little family and lived a happy life Brantley was still a singer, I still worked in the office, Dax went to school, and our other son went to Daycare. It was the life I always wanted but didn't get. I woke up early the next morning Dax was still sleeping so I made a cup of coffee and sat on the couch. I got on Instagram and had a ton of follow requests and DMs from Brantley fans. A lot asked if we were dating or if Dax was Brantley's son and a lot of different stuff. I replied back to a few stating that we weren't dating, Dax was my son not Brantley's, and that we are simply neighbors. I accepted the requests from the people who had DMed me, but that was about it.

"Morning mom." Dax said walking out into the living room.

"Morning bud." I said smiling.

"What's for breakfast?" He asked.

"What do you want?" I asked.

"Cream chipped beef." Dax said rubbing his stomach.

"Then we have to go get dressed. We don't have any." I said.

"Let's go then." Dax said hoping up. I got up and went to my room I put on a pair of shorts that weren't short shorts but they were short. I got out my old softball shirt that was still to big on me so I tucked it in and slide on my brown cowgirl boots. I went to the bathroom and brushed my hair, brushed my teeth, and put deodorant on. Dax was already in the living room wearing a camo shirt, ripped blue jeans, his black cowboy boots, and or course his BG baseball hat.

"Why don't you rock the Mohawk today?" I asked.

"Cause it's to long now." He said.

"We can get it cut." I said.

"Yeah!" Dax said. We went outside and got into the truck. We made our way to the diner that grandpa and I used to go to when I lived here. I moved to Byron when I was five and only visited grandpa one weekend of the month. The diner was a good twenty minutes from the house and when we got there it looked like it was biker day there were six or seven bikes in the parking lot. Dax and I got out going inside we took a seat at a table near the front. The waitress came over and took our order and we started talking about Dax's school.

"School starts tomorrow." I said.

"And you start your job tomorrow." Dax pointed out.

"I know. Are you excited?" I asked him.

"A little. I'm nervous though. I'll be the new kid and I won't know anyone." He said.

"You'll make friends. You're good at it, you got Brantley Gilbert to be your best friend in less than a day." I said smiling.
