*Brantley's P.O.V.*

My mom and I were sittin at the kitchen table havin a cup of coffee and catching up a little.

"So tell me about Payton Fleming and why she's sparking your mind." Mama said putting her coffee down.

"She lives in Marks old place. Just moved in." I said.

"That's nice. I guess Mark left her the place she is his only grand baby." She said.

"He did. I've been over there the past two days. I helped them move in." I said smiling.

"Them?" My mom asked.

"She has a son. His name is Dax and he's eight." I said smiling still.

"Wow. I didn't know that. She was young." My mom said.

"Wasn't her choice, anyway, her and I are kind of together and Dax sort of calls me dad." I said in one breath and took a sip of my coffee.

"He does what?" My mom asked.

"He calls me dad. I stayed with Payton last night and when I went to tell him goodnight he asked if he could. I told he could. He doesn't have a dad that cares about him." I said.

"Son, you really need to think this one through a little more. Payton isn't a normal girl that you can just date. She's a mother which ones Dax is number one. If something's wrong with him you'll come second and if you want to go out and no one can watch him then you don't go. Do you really want that?" My mom said. I already knew all the stuff she was telling me and I did want this I'm twenty nine years old it's time that I grow up and get a little responsibility in my life.

"Yeah, this is what I want. I love Dax like he's my son. I took him with me yesterday on the bike and all we did was go down to the lake and just hang out and Payton is the girl I've been waiting for. That girl that I always dream about being married to one day she was the girl in those dreams I just never realized it." I said smiling.

"If your happy then I'm happy and your all coming over for dinner tonight because I wanna see what little Payton has turned into and I wanna see this boy who has you wrapped around his finger." My mom said smiling.

"I'll tell Payton. Oh and I don't think Payton remembers us being friends when she was little. Now I warn you Dax is a lot like me, he looks up to me. Told me I'm his hero." I said.

"Before or after he started calling you dad?" She asked.

"Before. He loves my music well all country music really. I was thinkin about seeing who else he likes and maybe havin a little party for him so he can meet them." I said.

"That boy really does have you wrapped around his finger and you're acting like a father." My mom said smiling.

"I know. It feels weird but I kinda like it." I said.

"I hear the papers already." My mom said. Shouldn't that be bells? Either way I wasn't rushing this last time I rushed it I ended up broken hearted.

"What papers?" I asked.

"Adoption papers." My mom said.

"What?" I asked I was slightly confused.

"So Dax will legally be your son. Payton will still every right that you'd have instead of the real father having any rights to him. As of right now that boys after could come in at any second and scoop him up if he wanted to." My mom said.

I could even think of Cole coming in and taking Dax. After why he did to Payton and that little girl? What he told Dax about what he did to his mother. I'll have to talk to Payton about that I know it's not something to bring up after two days, but maybe while we go on tour I can talk to her about it. Shit I still haven't asked her if she would want to go.
