Eliza~

After the whole boring wedding we went to a beach for the party.  I changed out of my wedding dress and into a white strapless dress that went down to my mid-thigh.  I met up with Hayes and we laughed and talked with the guests until Nash, who was Hayes’s best man, got up and announced that it was time for our first dance as husband and wife.  We stepped out onto the dance floor as ‘All of me’ played.  Hayes picked that as our song because he said that it described his love life completely.

As we danced, Hayes softly sang the words to me as we looked into each other’s eyes and it was like nothing else mattered.  All I could see was him; his beautiful eyes, his smile, his dimples, his hair; all of him.  I didn’t quite understand what he meant when he said the song described him until now, and I felt the same way.  I am giving him all of me; my heart, my soul, everything, and so is he.

How many times do I have to tell you?

Even when you’re crying you’re beautiful too.

With those words I flashed back to the day he hit me.  I have forgiven him by now, but I can’t help but wonder what would’ve happened if I hadn’t left.  Would we be married like we are now?  Would we have broken up?

Now I know that my leaving was a good thing, even though it was painful.  We needed time apart to grow and find out our true feelings.  I know this is gonna sound really cheesy, but I think it really was fate that decided we were meant for each other.

As the song went on, more and more couples were dancing on the dance floor.  Some of them were looking at each other with love and compassion, others were just there.  Some were two people made one by love; others were two totally different people that just happened to be in the same place at the same time.

I looked over at Nash and his wife Megan, and I saw the same love in his eyes that was in Hayes’s, and Megan was looking back the same way, as I did with Hayes.

The song eventually ended and we went back to mingling.  We posed for pictures and talked with people, never once letting go of each other’s hands.

Soon it was time for the father/daughter dance.  Since I don’t have a dad I danced with Jake.  The whole time he seemed like something was on his mind, but I ignored it.  After that Hayes had a mother/son dance with Elizabeth.  After that Hayes and I linked our hands back together and continued to take pictures and talked with people.

Nash’s voice rang through the mic again and he said, “Can everyone grab a seat, it’s time for the toast!”  We took our seats and Nash spoke again, “I just want to start off by saying congrats to the lovely couple!”  He raised his glass in a toast and everyone else did too as Hayes and I smiled.  “I know it’s been a pretty rough road for you both,” Nash continued, “Eliza, after you left over 4 years ago, I thought I would never see you again, but Hayes never lost hope.  Whenever I told him you probably weren’t coming back, he would deny everything.  I thought he had really lost you.  Then all of a sudden you’re back, and I was worried at first.  With the whole Shawn drama and you were still hurt, I didn’t think you and Hayes would ever be the same, and you weren’t, but I have to say, I’m so happy you two got back together.  I love you both, and I couldn’t be happier for you two.”  He smiled at us and then Jake went up to the mic.  Jake never liked Hayes, especially after what happened.  This should be interesting.

“I have to be honest here, I don’t like Hayes; I never have, but if he makes my sister happy then I’ll just have to deal with it.  So I congratulate the lovely couple.”  He toasted us again and so did everyone else.  “When Eliza told me she was getting married to Hayes, I was prepared to get my shotgun, but when I look at them I can tell they are in love.  Hayes, don’t hurt her.”  He finished somewhat jokingly, and walked away from the mic.
