"Here we are." I said slowly when we got to my house.
"Luke, are you going to be okay?" She asked, grabbing my hand and lacing our fingers together.
"What do you mean?" I smiled.
Man, I smile a lot when I'm with Vivian.
"Your mom..." She trailed off.
My smile faded. "I'll be okay." I sighed.
"Luke, don't do anything stupid okay? Listen to what your mom says, don't cut, stay away as long as possible. Finish reading Risked, listen to music, and just be careful. Okay?" She smiled softly.
"Okay." I smiled, then leaned down and kissed her the cheek quickly.
I turned to walk up the grass, then I heard her yell from behind me.
"Hemmo!" I turned around.
"Yes?"
"I don't have your number."
"I thought your 'friends' had it." I said.
"We'll they had it. They get it, then delete it. Never use it again." She shrugged.
"So, you're asking me for my number?" I smirked.
"In a friendly way, yes." She smiled.
"Friends that made out?" I laughed.
"Shut up, just give me your phone." I took my phone out of my pocket and unlocked it before handing it to her. She held it for a couple minutes, then I heard her typing, really fast. Then her phone rang in her pocket. I get it, she sent herself a text. She handed me back my phone, and what she put as her name and the text she sent were cute.Viv c:
'thinking of kissing you again...'"Oh my god." I laughed.
"What?" She asked innocently.
"Did you text this as me or you?" I asked, pointing to my phone.
"Both of us. I have to go." She smiled, then turned and started walking away from me. "Bye Hemmo!" She yelled, blowing me a kiss.
"Bye Viv!" I yelled back, sticking my tongue out at her. She just laughed, and kept walking down the street.
When I got inside, I didn't see my mom. She was probably in her room. I bounded up the steps to my own room, closing the door softly behind me. I plugged my headphones into my phone and was about to turn on my music, but then I got a text.'I meant what I said...'
'What do you mean?'
'The text I sent'
'So you want to kiss me?'
'Maybe...
Oh who am I kidding. Yes, I want to kiss you. I wish I was there.'
'I wish you were here too lol'Then, my phone rang. FaceTime.
Viv c:I answered the call, grinning.
"Viv!" I yelled.
"Hemmo!" She yelled back. "I miss you!"
"You saw me five minutes ago, Viv." I laughed.
"I still miss you." She pouted.
"LUKE!" I heard my mum yell. Vivian must've heard it, too, because her eyes went wide.
"Shit, is that your mum?" She asked worriedly.
"Yeah, hold on." I took out my headphones and set the phone down on my bed, walking out of my room, calm on the outside but terrified on the inside.
"Yes mum?" I asked.
"Is someone in your room?" She asked.
"No, why?"
"I heard you talking to someone."
"I'm on the phone with someone."
"Is your room clean?"
"Yes, mum."
"Are you lying?"
"No, mum."
"Okay, I'm going back to my room. Don't bother me." She shot me a glare, and I smiled, walking back into my room.
"What did she do? Are you okay?" She asked when I picked up the phone again.
"I'm fine, she just heard me talking and thought someone was in my room. I told her I'm talking to someone and she told me to not bother her, so I won't." I said simply.
"No abuse?" She asked, biting her lip.
"No abuse." I repeated, smiling at her.
"Good. So what are you doing?"
"Nothing, just doing what you told me to." I smiled. She tilted her head to the side and furrowed her eyebrows, giving me a confused look.
"You told me to finish reading Risked and listen to music." I laughed softly at the fact that she couldn't remember what she told me five minutes ago. "But you interrupted me so now I can't."
"Oh whatever, I bet you like me more than that dumb book." She laughed.
"Don't you ever call The Missing Series dumb!" I yelled dramatically.
"Okay, sorry." She put her hands up defensively.
"I do like you more than those books, though..." I trailed off.
"Really?" She asked excitedly.
"Yeah." I grinned.
"Vivian, I- who are you talking to?" I heard someone ask. It was Ashton.
"Oh, I'm talking to Hemmo- I mean, uh, Luke Hemmings." I laughed quietly because she almost called me by her nickname for me.
"The loner? Why would you talk to him?" He asked. Wow, I guess he thought I couldn't hear him.
"He's not a loner, he's really nice and funny." She said.
"Funny? No one at school has ever seen that dude smile, much less be funny."
"Really? He smiles all the time with me."
"Wow. Whatever, you can still talk to him."
"Wait, Ash, what were you going to say?" She asked.
"Nothing, I'll tell you later. You can keep talking to Luke." He said, then I heard the sound of a door shutting.
"Sorry, it was Ashton." She sighed.
"I'm surprised he knows who I am." I shrugged.
"Crap, did you hear him? Oh god Hemmo, I'm sorry, he doesn't know you like I do-"
"It's okay, Viv. I get that all the time. Loner, loser, dork, nerd, weirdo, geek, freak, everything. It's okay." I shrugged.
"You are a dork. But you're a cute dork." She giggled.
"I am cute." I said sarcastically.
"I wish I was there." She said, pouting.
"I would rather be over there." I laughed.
"My house is boring, though..." She trailed off.
"My house is scary. It smells of smoke, there are always beer cans everywhere, every five minutes you hear someone yelling, it sucks."
"It seems like your house is just a big party." She laughed.
"It's actually the opposite." I smiled.
"Hold on." She said.
"Okay." I saw her get up off of her bed.
She stumbled and almost fell. "Fuck!" She yelled. "Sorry," she started laughing, "I'm clumsy." I just laughed.
She pulled on a pair of black sneakers, and ran downstairs.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"Going outside."
"Why?"
"I don't know." She said, starting to walk.
"Are you coming to my house?"
"No."
"Then where are you going?"
"I don't know."
"So what if you get kidnapped?"
"Hemmo, you know our neighborhood, I won't get kidnapped." She laughed.
Then I heard the doorbell ring.
"Shit, Viv!" I yelled, running out of my room.
"Who is it, Luke!!" My mum yelled
"It's just my friend, we're gonna sit out front!" I yelled back, going to the door. She was laughing the entire time, and when she heard my mum yell, she hung up on me.
I opened the door to reveal a smiling Vivian staring at me.
"Can I help you?" I asked, trying to hide my smile.
"Mr. Hemmings?"
"Yes, that's me."
"Well, I was wondering if you would like to come outside with me."
"Why, I would love to." I smiled.
I grabbed a bag of chips before running back to the door with Viv.
