definition of happiness

to define society's meaning of happiness

is to define the word "unhappiness"

to own all luxurious brands,

to have power in your hands,

to achieve that ideal body,

to be admired by everybody,

but are you truly happy? 

or are you just masked by this life,

hiding under that "happy" life,

 behind that smile might just be a frown,

beware not to drown

by your life full of lies,

for this is all just a guise. 

having a million bucks,

just to live a life of deluxe,

money is happiness, 

at least that's what they say,

but money can't buy long-term happiness,

it can only satisfy you for the first few days,

you can buy all you want,

spend all you want,

during the first few weeks,

until your life peaks,

but until then,

this is the time when,

you realize that money is not happiness but rather,

just a digit or a number,

this is when,

you've finally awaken again,

to realize that every item you've bought,

is no more than something that just appeared in your thought,

and every friend you knew,

is no more than just another gold digger,

desperate to be part of your crew,

to be in hopes that their fame among the rich will get bigger,

and to constantly receive easy money from millionaires like you,

who treat money like it's nothing,

perhaps they'd wish that they'll one day be rich too,

to be able to trash money like it's nothing, 

but one thing that they don't know,

is that this life you're living,

took away your happiness long ago,

and had you living,

only to exist.

happiness comes from many perspective,

as it may be really subjective,

some may be to just spend time with their love ones and to live a simple life,

some may be to live a luxurious life, to be the richest,

some may be to just recover from an illness of theirs,

some may be as simple as getting a funky sock as their present,

some may be as little as to get a simple greeting from someone special,

some may be-

but society's version of happiness is definitely complicated,

as people hide behind their masks,

only to claim that they're happy on the outside,

but dying on the inside.

I understand that there are many definitions and levels to happiness, and not all of society's happiness is to live a luxurious life or to simply gain much fame, but all I'm stating here is how people strive for the life of the richest, thinking that money rules as it brings eternal happiness because that's not entirely true! I wrote this poem to tell you to not be just another person, controlled and manipulated by money, money is just a number, it's being around people you actually love that brings happiness, it's every little thing and memory in life that defines happiness, it's your mind and your perspectives that will actually understand what's it like to be really happy and it's because of constantly doing what you love with people you care about that will only grant you eternal happiness, even through the ups and downs in life, to know that these people will be there for you no matter what.

Love people, use things. Easy to say but society today has taught us to love things and use people.
