society today

education

they'd always say,

"get an A"

"listen to what the teachers say",

to do what we're told and obey,

all the rules,

set by schools.

don't ever question,

the books or education,

just follow the flow,

then we will never grow,

if we're constantly taught,

that we cannot,

express our own thoughts,

nor query what we're taught,

our ideas are always limited,

for thinking out of the box will be discredited.

society will shut us up,

whenever we look up,

and wonder,

about "what ifs" and others.

tests after tests,

each one of them are like contests,

students competing against each other,

only to wonder,

if this is what we really want,

or is this what society wants?

to wonder,

if we actually learnt something new last semester,

or did we just learnt it the night before,

just to get a better score,

to wonder,

whether we go to school,

to be educated,

or to be rated,

according to our grades.

cuz in society today,

we're determined,

judged,

and defined,

by just a piece of paper, 

that decides our level of knowledge,

and determines our fate.
