Emily was all too stunned by the news Alfred just announced. He is her betrothed? He's the one that her father said that they are engaged when they were just toddlers? Emily regretted to ever run away with Henry even before knowing who is her future husband that her father already arranged with the other party. That way, at least she will be more prepare to face him. Now all she can do was just stand and stare at both of them, waiting for the two lions to fight for dominance.

Both of the men stood there glaring at each other. It was as if they were having some cold war and if anyone make the first move, the other will respond with a fight.

"What prove do you have saying that her father want her back now and you are engaged to her? I remember hearing him say that she will only go back after a few days and I don't think she agreed to be with you and marry you. Besides, did Payton allow  this marriage to happen?" Darren voiced out. Payton did mention that she need to go back to him but he didn't expect it to be this fast. He felt like he was being cheated by the old man. He wanted to find him and speak to him right now, after settling this problem in front of him.

" Well, I knew you will ask this question regarding Mr Darcy. So, here's the letter that he delivered it to me to take Emily away from you. And our marriage was already arranged when we were young." He pointed out and gave Darren Mr Darcy's letter.

Darren quickly took it and unfold the letter.

To Lord Alfred  Archerfield Barrington the Marquess of Pembroke,

I hope you received this letter by now. I want you to help me get Emily back from Darren  as she doesn't listen to me anymore and act like a childish woman. Her immaturity has brought many foolish acts in the past and it seems like she didn't learn from her mistakes. I hope you'll take care of her on my behalf as you are her future husband that your father and I had already agreed.We wish the two of you all the best in getting to know each other  to form a strong bond that you and her will never be separated even after marriage.

Darren reread the letter to confirm whether the writing was Payton's until Emily snatch it away from him. She scanned the paper to make a quick confirmation and later she look resign to it.

By the looks of it, it must be the truth. Emily lowered her head and move towards Alfred. Darren quickly pull Emily nearer to him. "Don't go." Darren whispered to her in her ear.

" I have to. In order to obtain my father's forgiveness.  I have disappoint him the last time by running away with Henry." She said softly.

" But I thought you said you've change after meeting Henry. What happen?" He asked, unable to understand her at all. What change her back to her old self listening to her father again?

"Darren." She sighed before continuing. "Yes I did change, by following my heart and look what happen to me? Henry died. If I didn't follow him, all this wouldn't have happen and I might have see him alive again. Even though I have to bear all the suffering by seeing him marrying with another woman I would still have a chance to see him again. My father is right. I have disappoint him too much already."

With that said, she slowly remove herself from Darren and come closer to Alfred. Darren wanted to just run to her and drag her back but he need to settle this business with her father. He doesn't want to believe that her father agreed to that man. Darren believe his instinct telling him that this man is not really a gentleman. Not that he is one, but because he sense like there was something not right about this Marquess.
