~~ 2 Weeks Later ~~

> Brian's POV <

I spent everyday at the hospital at Scarlett's bedside, along with Jimmy. We often shared the night shifts, one night he'd stay at the hospital and the next night I'd stay. We both had grown quite attached to her. As had all the guys and Val; they'd all often drop in throughout the day to check on her progress, praying that she would wake up.

> Scarlett's POV <

There was a faint white light in the distance and just like a bug to a light, I was drawn towards it. It was so warm and inviting I just could not resist.

"Scarlett. Stop."

I stopped, looking around for the source of the voice. Daniel. My safe haven.

When my eyes rested on him he was enshrouded in a faint glow which made me furrow my eyebrows in confusion.

I slowly walked toward him until we were just centimetres away; never breaking eye contact. He searched my eyes for a few more seconds before he grabbed my hands and spoke.

"Scarlett, you need to walk away from me ok?"

"W-what?" Tears filled my eyes. This was it. He was leaving me.

"I need you to be strong, Scar." He cupped my face with both his hands before continuing.

"I need you to walk away from me and I need you to wake up."

I shook my head furiously as tears fell down my face.

"I- I can't do t-that. I want to stay with you."

A small smile crossed his lips and he lent down to plant a soft kiss on my forehead.

"You can do it, Scar. I promise you everything is going to be okay. I will always be up here watching over you. I promise you thank when you wake up you will not be alone. You're going to be in good hands okay? Everything, will be alright, everything happens for a reason."

He planted one more kiss on my lips then he started to fade away.

"Daniel?"

"It's okay, Scar. I love you."

He vanished just as a harsh white light filled my eyes making me snap them back shut. A beeping sound filled my ears just as my whole body felt like it was broken.

I slowly let my eyes adjust as I took in my surroundings, shifting uncomfortably as I did so. I let out a whimper as a searing pain shot through my ribs.

"Hey, it's okay."

I looked over at the man next my my bed.

He wasn't Daniel.

His hair was black and messy and the bags under his piercing brown eyes indicated he hadn't been getting a lot of sleep.

He gently pushed my hair out of my face.

"I'll go get you a nurse. Try not to move too much, alright?"

I simply nodded as he made his way toward the door and out into the hallway.

I've never actually had to stay in hospital for any serious reason before and the prospect of it honestly scared me beyond belief; especially because I had no family here to comfort me or support me.

Except Daniel.

But even now, for some sickening reason, his name brought little comfort to me; only an unimaginable pain radiating through my heart.

There was a faint knock at my door as a nurse entered my room.

"Hello Scarlett, it's so good to see you awake. My name is Andrea."

She smiled faintly as she walked over to the machinery I was hooked up to and started writing things down.

"For someone who was knocked around as badly as you were m'dear, you're readings are quite good. Are you in any pain?

I only faintly nodded in response.

"Can you tell me what hurts, dear?"

"Everything." I managed to croak out.

She shot me a sympathetic smile before laying her clipboard down and making her way over to my intravenous drip.

"You have a great lot of friends, y'know."

She spoke as she fiddled with my drip, assumably administering pain killers into it.

"They're always visiting, everyday. Checking in on your progress." I only nodded in response having no idea what she was talking about.

"Two of them especially have not left your side the whole time you've been here. Jimmy and Brian I do believe their names are."

Jimmy. That name rang a bell.

"Are they here?" I whispered.

She connected me back up to my drip and picked up her clipboard.

"Of course dear, Brian was in here when you woke up. They're both in the waiting room right now speaking to Dr. Kent who also wants to update you with everything that's going on. I'll send them in right away."

I nodded and faintly smiled in response as she exited the room and almost immediately after, entered three men.

I recognised Jimmy straight away and smiled at him briefly before turning to the one who must be Brian, also offering him a small smile.

"Ahh Miss. Taylor, it's good to see you awake! I am Dr. Kent. How do you feel?"

I diverted my gaze from Brian to the doctor who took a seat next to my bed. Brian and Jimmy both lent against the wall closest to the door, clearly giving us space.

"I'm in a lot of pain."

"That is expected from someone who suffered the amount of trauma as you have. Do you remember what happened?"

There was silence throughout the room as I struggled to remember the events that led me to be laying in this hospital bed today.

"I.. I don't.. I only remember going for a walk with Daniel.." There was a pinch in my heart when I spoke his name. Something wasn't right.

"Then.. Then the next thing I remember was laying in someone's lap, talking to Jimmy. I.. I don't remember."

The doctor nodded his head before scribbling something down on his clipboard.

"Well Scarlett, it seems you are suffering from retrograde amnesia. It's not uncommon to start to remember forgotten events with this type of amnesia so don't be startled when they come back. You also have a broken arm, as you can see and two fractured ribs, and two broken ribs, all on your right side."

The only thing I could do was nod.

"Now, as for what what happened, you're extremely lucky to be alive Scarlett. A car struck you and your husband. I'm so sorry Scarlett, we did all that we could but we could not revive your husband. He didn't make it."

In that moment all my fears were confirmed. I felt my heart shatter and a wave of nausea washed over me. The love of my life was gone.
