Chapter 12

~ Two weeks later ~

> Scarlett's POV <

"My dad should here soon to take you. I dodn't think we're spending a full day in the studio so we'll be home before dinner."

Brian embraced me in a hug and picked up his guitar case.

"See you tonight."

He kissed the top of my head which made Laura wince a little.

Things have been good between Laura and I since our discussion that night at the beach but she still became tense with all the attention Brian give me.

"Bye Laura."

She only gave me a smile and a quick hug before grabbing Brian's hand and pulling him out the door.

"She's so odd."

I turned around and smiled at Jimmy who was watching Brian and Laura exit the house.

"She means no harm, Jimmy."

"No harm my arse."

He mumbled.

He was unusually snappy today and somewhat sad.

This isn't usual Jimmy behaviour.

"What's wrong?"

He walked towards me and wrapped me in a tight hug. He didn't speak, all that was audible was our steady breaths.

"I want to be there for you, Scar. I want to be there for you today instead of being in the stupid studio."

I pulled away and looking into his piercing blue eyes.

"I'm going to be alright. You have music to make. You've been there for me throughout this whole process. You all have. Missing this hospital appointment isn't going to make much difference, alright?"

He pulled me back to him and held me.

"Jimm, Brian's about to lose his shit if you don't hurry your arse up. Scarlett, you ready to go kiddo?"

Papa Gates' voice echoed throughout the house as strolled into the room and stopped short when he saw us.

"Oh, sorry. Am I interrupting something?"

Jimmy pulled away and gave me a sad smile.

"Come on, let's go."

He mumbled to me.

"Not at all. Let's go Papa Gates."

Jimmy said grabbing my hand and leading me out to Papa's car.

Jimmy helped me in the car as Brian senior slid into his seat and started the car.

Jimmy pulled the seatbelt across my body and clicked it into place.

"Jimmy I can do it."

I giggled.

Jimmy slapped my hand away gently and turned to Papa Gates.

"Listen to me, Papa."

Jimmy said seriously pointing at him.

"She better return home in one piece, you got it?"

He closed the door before he had a chance to respond and ran to Brian's car.

"What's got him so revved up?"

Papa said backing out of the driveway.

"He's just upset that he can't be here for me today."

He mumbled something incoherent continuing to drive towards the hospital.

"Thanks Papa Gates."

I jumped out of the car.

"No problem, lil' one. Come drop by soon alright? I miss you."

"I will soon alright, Papa?"

He smiled a goofy smile that reminded me of Brian which made me giggle.

"Bye Papa."

I closed the car door and walked into the house and sighed at the emptiness.

The guys weren't home yet.

I kicked off my shoes and made my way into the kitchen grabbing the tub of ice cream from the freezer and flopped down on the couch.

"Scarletttttt."

Jimmy burst through the door and jumped on the couch next to me.

"Oohh ice cream."

He took it out of my hands and started spooning it into his mouth.

"That was mine."

I grumbled.

He handed me back the ice cream and positioned himself between my legs with his back resting against my chest.

I scooped some ice cream out of the tub before putting in my mouth and setting the tub on the floor.

"How'd your appointment go?"

Jimmy said pulling my arms around him.

Laura and Brian walked inside laughing together.

It's good to see them happy with each other.

"Hey, Scar. How'd your appointment go?"

Brian said flopping down on the chair pulling Laura with him.

"God dammit Syn stop interrupting! I just asked her that!"

Jimmy yelled.

Brian held his hands up in surrender before wrapping his arms around Laura's waist.

"It was fine, I guess. I still have my cast. And my ribs still aren't fully healed yet."

I absentmindedly ran a hand through Jimmy's hair.

"Mmm Scar that feels so good."

Jimmy moaned.

I immediately stopped as Laura and Brian burst out laughing.

"Jimmy you made that sound so sexual."

I groaned, lightly slapping his arm.

We all continued to laugh.
