Chapter 18

My heart thudded in my chest as I ran through the doors of the hospial completely out of breath.

I spotted Val's blonde hair bobbing up and down as she intently listened to what the doctor in front of her was saying. I hurridly made my way toward them, taking a in a deep breath to get my heart rate back to normal. The doctor turned towards me and smiled.

"You must be Brian. I'm Dr. Lucus." He smiled and offered me his hand for him to shake. I took it nodding my head in response as my brain continued to worry about Scarlett's condition.

"Scarlett has been asking for either you or Jimmy. Both her and Valerie here said it would most likely be you." He chuckled as Val shot me a sheepish grin.

"Is she alright? Can I go see her?" I shifted from foot to foot, agitated.

"I just want to inform you of what happened first. You are well aware of the swelling on Scarlett's brain that is a result of the trauma she went through quite a few months ago, we have been keeping quite a close eye on it. What happened today was the result of stress hormones which led to quite a severe migrane. The good news is that we ran a few tests and the swelling has actually gone down, it's virtually now non-existant. But the bad news is Scarlett's anxiety disorder now combined with her post traumatic stress disorder was what resulted in today. What today basically proved to us is that highly stressful situations can be extremely dangerous for her." My eyebrows furrowed as I took in his words.

"What triggered it?"

"She's stressed about being left alone whilst we're on tour." Val said quietly.

"Easily solved. I'm staying here with her then until she can join us." Val whipped her head toward me and looked at me as if I had grown two heads.

"Brian be reasonable here! You can't just ditch the guys like that. Where are they going to find a replacement for you in five days?! There's pleanty of people here to look after her. There's Michelle and there's your dad. You know that the last thing Scarlett wants is for you to be here with her whilst you're meant to be on tour. You know how guilty that'd make her feel."

"If that's the case Val then why is she so stressed about us going?"

"She's stressed that we're going to forget her, Brian. She just lost the one person that was truely hers. Now she's got all us and we're leaving for months on end. Can't you see that to her this is just a repeat of what happened, just not as tragic?" I sighed and ran a frustrated hand through my hair.

"Can I just see her? Please?" The doctor nodded and led me down the corridor towards Scarlett's room.
