She had plopped in her black swivel chair, typing in her password. The old, 2007 PC made a screeching noise as it turned on. She clicked on the Instant messaging icon.

Samantha Berry: Hey Thomas, What's up?

Thomas is typing....

Thomas Andrews: Nothing much, you?

Samantha is typing....

Samantha Berry: Just some homework. I have this giant science project due next week.

Thomas Andrews: That sucks.

Samantha Berry: yeah

Samantha Berry: So, how's school going for you?

Thomas is typing....

Thomas Andrews: Well, you know how it is. It's hard to to go to school in Italy when your first language is English.

Samantha Berry: I thought you said you were in France.

He didn't respond for a little while. Samantha sat back in her chair. She looked at Thomas' profile picture. He was gorgeous. He had bright, emerald green eyes that seemed to sparkle in the sunlight. And his blonde hair reminded her of a yellow sunflower that would bloom in the spring. He had very sharp features too. " He's kind of intimidating." Samantha said out loud to herself.

Bing! "Oh my gosh!" Samantha was so startled that she fell out of her chair. "Ow, my head."

Thomas Andrews: Stupid autocorrect.

Samantha almost knocked over her computer as she scrambled to her feet.

Samantha Berry: Yeah.

Samantha Berry: So, when are you coming back to America?

Thomas Andrews: hopefully soon.

Samantha Berry: Promise that you'll come and see me?

Thomas Andrews: I promise =)

Samantha Berry: where should we meet?

Thomas Andrews: How about at your school?

Samantha Berry: You know where my school is.

Thomas Andrews: Yeah, everyone knows where River Creek High school is.

Samantha Berry: How did you know I went to River Creek?

Thomas Andrews: Um, lucky guess?

Samantha Berry: ok?

Thomas Andrews: Or we could meet at that cafe near your house

Samantha Berry: you know where I live?

Thomas Andrews: Yeah. Is that weird?

Samantha Berry: No, it's not weird.

Thomas Andrews: That's good.

Samantha Berry: It's just plain creepy.

Thomas Andrews: How about we meet at that chinese food place? You know where it is?

Samantha Berry: Yeah, I think so.

Thomas Andrews: Great! Can't wait to come back to America!

amantha Berry: Yeah, I'm excited to meet you in person.

Thomas Andrews: Ok, great! See you soon hopefully.

Samantha Berry: Yeah, message me when you make it back.

Thomas Andrews: Sounds good.

Thomas has logged off.

Samantha was so excited. She was finally gonna meet the one she had fell in love with two years ago. She couldn't wait to meet him in person. She was so eager and every day she checked her computer to see if she had a new message. But, everyday was the same.

"Please update your PC."

"You have successfully downloaded flappy bird."

"You have no new messages."

Everyday was the same. "You have no new messages."

Samantha began to become restless. He computer desk had become a place where she ate and slept. She rarely left unless she was going to school. "Samantha, you're insane. You're letting this computer take over your life." She said to herself. Bing! Samantha scrambled for the mouse.

Thomas Andrews: I'm coming home this weekend.

Samantha Berry: Perfect! See you then.

Samantha has logged off.

Samantha is typing....

Samantha Berry: Hey, Amanda.

Amanda Turner: Hey, What's up?

Samantha Berry: Thomas is coming home this weekend!

Amanda Turner: Thomas? You mean the Thomas that you've fallen head over heels for? The one you've never even met? Please tell me you are not going to meet up with him on your own.

Samantha Berry: And What if I am?

Amanda Turner: Sam, you're crazy. For all you know, he could be a 40 year old man that lives in a shed in the woods. What if he's a murderer?

Samantha Berry: Thomas is not a murderer.

Amanda Turner: How do you know that?

Samantha Berry: Trust me, I think I know Thomas much better than you do.

Amanda Turner: I don't want you to go.

Samantha Berry: Why not?

Amanda Turner: I just don't want you to get hurt. What if you get kidnapped?

Samantha Berry: I won't get kidnapped. Don't worry about me. Besides, i'll have my phone on me and my pepper spray.

Amanda Turner: You better text me every ten minutes.

Samantha Berry: Ok, Ok. What are you? My mom?

Amanda Turner: No, I'm your best friend and I don't want to lose you.

Samantha Berry: Ok, well I gotta go. Bye.

Samantha was dressed to impress in her brand new black dress that met just below her knees. She had bought that dress just for the occasion. Her coat was very loose around her shoulders, her hair a tangled mess. It was cold, but she did not look flushed. She looked very uncomfortable. There had definitely been a struggle. Her new dress was torn. She had twigs in her hair and she was covered in dirt. They found her in a dumpster in an alley behind the chinese food restaurant. She had been there for at least 24 hours, until a young waitress found her while taking out the trash. That poor waitress needed therapy for the next six months. The site was so horrific. Samantha had been found with several stab wounds, head trauma, and she had been robbed. The suspect, Vincent Anderson,a 52 year old man, was arrested for the murder of Samantha Berry two days later. The reason for this arrest was because of an instant messaging conversation he had with Samantha Berry. He was posing as a 17 year old high school student who was going to school in France. His name was Thomas Andrews.
