Midorima Shintaro x Reader

A/N: Please bear with this one, Midorima will be OOC in this one-shot ;^;

It's only 2 days until your birthday, and you haven't met Midorima yet. And for the first time for this week, Midorima finally communicated with you. "Kazu-kun, have you seen Shin-chan?," you asked the hawk-eyed player of Shutoku. Midorima just asked you to get his lucky item, which is a ring. 

"Eh... I remember Shin-chan telling me that he's going to somewhere, but he didn't told me where. What is that, (Y/n)-chan? A ring? Are you going to ask Shin-chan to marry you?," he bombarded you with questions. Yes, you and Midorima are together.

You chuckled. "Of course no, this is his lucky item, and he asked me to get it. And Shin-chan must be the one who should propose to me," you said, cracking a smile.

Takao just laughed. "As if he would do that," he said. And that sounds suspicious for you. You felt nervous at the same time. What could he possibly mean?

His laughter died at a matter of seconds. "What? You don't know?," he trailed off. He looked at your expression and he went to a stop.

"Know what?," you asked him and you dropped the ring unconsciously. "Is there something that I must know?," you asked him again.

"Th-that he's absent today, you don't know?," he tried to crack a smile to cover up his lies. You knew Takao so well, if he's telling the truth or no. Obviously he's absent now because he's been absent since Monday, and when you visited his home, his little sister greeted you and told you that her big brother is off to somewhere. But there's something wrong with Takao. Instead of insisting, you just left. 

Unbeknownst to you, there is something that's off.

Takao picked up the ring you unconsciously dropped. He went to Suzuka (Shutoku's Basketball Team Manager) and he gave it to her. "Is this Midorima's third request? And who was it from?," she asked him. Takao just let a smirk and he said your name, syllable by syllable. Suzuka smile sheepishly and she went to somewhere else.

You went to your classroom, feeling all frustrated and anxious. Your best friends, (Best friend's name) and Ren, went to you, smiling as always. "What's the problem, (Y/n)? Takao pulled out a prank again?," (Best friend's name) asked. Ren just swung his arm around your shoulder. "You shouldn't take his jokes too seriously. We all know how he plays," he said, while the three of you walking to your seats, consecutively.

"There's something wrong with Kazu-kun. Shin-chan asked me to get his lucky item, which is a ring. But I can't find him around the campus, so I went to Kazu-kun and asked him. And he pulled a joke about me, proposing to Shin-chan. I told him that Shin-chan is the one who should propose to me but he said 'As if he would do that' and it made me nervous," you said, eyeing Ren and (Best friend's name). They looked upon each other's eyes, with worry. And that sent you the worst vibes you could ever receive, the worst is...

That sent you the worst news you could ever hear.

"Shin-chan already left Shutoku, we think," (Best friend's name) said, looking down on her feet.

You froze, but you need to confirm if it is true. "D-do you know... where did he go?," you asked, looking down on your feet. Ren shrugged his shoulders, "Unfortunately, no one knows where Midorima-san went to," he said. It is possible that Midorima already left Shutoku, since you always see Takao doing his own rounds at school alone. Normally he would do his rounds, together with Midorima.

"Rumors have it, right?," you asked, and (Best friend's name) nodded. You sighed. You stand from your own seat and you excused yourself from your best friends. You just wanted to be alone for a while, you need to think this through. No unnecessary thoughts needed.
