The metaphor, 'the stone to the head', is a bit strange. It could mean many things. For example, 'the stone to the head' could be literal or figurative. The literal meaning would be actually getting a stone to the head, like being stricken in the head with a stone- which I hope never happens to you. Or, it could be the figurative meaning. Figurative meaning you could abruptly realize something, abruptly meaning quickly changing one thought to another, or a thought quickly hitting you- figuratively, I hope.
Luckily- I think- for this particular moment, the term 'the stone to the head' is definitely figurative. For those who do not know- that is how depression comes. Like a stone to the head. You could be perfectly fine one minute, then get that feeling. That brisk, abrupt moment of realization. You may be asking right now, "what do you mean by realization?" and your answer to that would be the realizing that possibly everything is useless, or remembering recent disappointments in your life lately. It is different for each depressed person. And if you were not asking about what I meant and now you are all like "gee, what's with the stupidly long explanation, I didn't need to know.", well I'M SOR-RY, HON.
To the person/alien/refrigerator reading this right now.: Whether you are the curious one, the depressed one, the person stuck in the ditch, etc., I hope you stick around to read the rest. And in the future chapters, if you see one does not apply to you, you should still read it! Because even though it may not apply to you, it's good to have an understanding about these things. You never know when you're going to come across some person/alien/refrigerator that the chapters DO apply to. Thank you for all of your time and energy wasted in reading this pathetic little chapter- that is if you did read it, or you got hungry and started eating your copy in that ditch. Hope you kind souls- or soles, for all you shoes out there- stick around.
Sincerely with deepest and utmost apologies for myself,
~AEB
