Chapter One:
Nicollete's Point Of View
I examined the contentes of my trunk one last time, before slamming it shut and locking the contents of my closet and bathroom in it. Why did my mom have to find another rich boyfriend to spend the summer with? Most of the time she would take me on her crazy expensive trips, but this summer she though it would "be good for me" to go to summer camp. Summer camp, really mom? I sighed stading up, and heading to take a shower. After drying and straightening my hair, I stepped into my room to get dressed. Turning on my iHome to blast Ed Sheeran's You Need Me, You Don't Need You, I put on my favorie distressed neon pink shorts, a gray and black rock in roll t-shirt, and my black motorcycle boots. I stopped short when I heard giggling and whispering coming from my moms room. Ew, that's just gross, but it just proves that my mom doesn't know how to set bounderies. After applying my make-up and packing up the rest of my stuff, my laptop,iPod, and iPhone with all my charging cables, in a nylon backpack, I start to head downstairs. Realizing I forgot my favorite book, i run back upstairs and find it sitting on my bedside table. The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. I head back downstairs, but stop at the mirror in the end of the hallway, to check my reflection. I'm about 5'8, with brown eyebrows, despite my golden-blonde hair, that I dye dipped dark pink this summer.Dark evergreen eyes dart out from my lightly tanned face. A sprinkle of freckels spreads across my nose and cheeks. After sittuatuing my t-shirt, I head downstairs to face my mom and her boyfriend.
It wasn't the drive to camp that was bad, it was the ride with my mom and her boyfriend, Aaron, that was bad. Seeing them make dirty jokes and act cute for five hours was torture. I want my mom to be happy, just with my biological dad. After about twenty minutes of earing them debate who was cuter, i put on my headphones and soon, Everybody Talks by Neon Trees was blasting into my ears.
Camp Wakanu, the sign reads. We've basically been driving through a forest in northern New York until we found this little place. This summers going to suck.
