Finnick
I examined the yellowing black-and-blue bruise on her arm "You fell pretty hard then?"
She nodded "I know...It doesn't matter though?"
Haymitch had let Lily go and ran over to Charlie. The nurse told us it was a good job because a few more turns of the wheel and he would've been under that truck without doubt. He'd escaped with his life and a few cuts and bruises. It could've been a Hell of a lot worse. Me and her looked at one and other and grimaced. The hospital would automatically follow procedure and record the event for future reference. The theraphy centre would see it, Soical services would see it and put Lily as being there when the accident happened. One witness had told the police they'd seen Lily push him under but I didn't believe that for one damned second. Luckily, Sae had seen too and deminshed the whole idea but they'd of still noted it down. They would also have down the fact Sae was known to of spoken to Lily the day she went to the rehab. If I had my way she was NOT going back in that place.
"Finn,"
"What?"
"I didn't do it. Please say you know I didn't?"
"Lil, I know for a fact you didn't, you were in the Hob doorway?"
She sighed and hissed "I bet if my legs weren't like they are I could've pulled him back before he got knocked over."
"Well, he's okay so, it doesn't matter."
She nodded slowly
"Mommy?" He whispered as he had her wrapped around him.
"Yeah?"
"Can you do me a really big favour?"
"What?"
"Can you go home and get my blanket and my teddy coz I don't think I'll sleep without them?"
"Of course-"
"And," he continued "Will you stay here with me tonight?"
She nodded "We aren't going to leave you on your own Charlie?"
He smiled "Good."
He paused and muttered "When you going to get them?"
She rolled her eyes and I held in laughter
"It's still the afternoon but I suppose I have to do as you say?"
"You don't have to go get it now momma if you don't want?"
"Nah, I'll go now coz it'll take me a while to get back?"
She sat up and as she prepared to get up he tugged on her sleeve.
"What?"
"It doesn't matter."
"You sure baby?"
He nodded "I'm sure, I'll be OK."
"Do you want me to call someone and ask them to bring it in if you don't want me to go?"
"Yes please."
Lily
It's the norm for me for things not to work out the way I plan. I was meeting Katniss that morning to go hunting...Then, every muscle in my legs ached so that wasn't happening. I was meant to get Charlie to nursery but it was closed today because of chicken pox. The re-enactment that turned into an actual hunger games...That wasn't to plan either.
"Lil, you okay?"
I looked at Finn. He came over and sat on the bed with me.
"What's up?" He murmured as Charlie snuggled under his arm so his head was on his lap
"Nothing." I mumbled nodding at Charlie.
He kissed the side of my head and whispered "We'll talk about it later?"
I nodded slowly and sighed taking some change from my pocket "I'm gonna call around see if anyone can fetch that stuff up? He's gonna need some pajamas anyway?"
"Well then, I'll go get that, you stay here- give your legs a rest since their bad today?"
My face fell. I wanted to tell him when Charlie was asleep- "The doctor today told me to take it easy otherwise I'll end up in a wheelchair by the time I'm 30..." I gave him a minute to take this in and mumbled "So they've adviced I don't have any more children."
Finnick shrugged "We've got Charlie- we focus on him?"
I didn't know whether he was just putting on a brave face or not. I suppose I'd find out eventually...
