"Hey kid."
I blinked "Dad?"
My lungs burned as I spoke
He frowned "You hurting sweetheart?"
I nodded and attempted to breathe out slowly.
"Are you ok though?"
I nodded.
Haymitch
I thought she was dead. Just for those few seconds in the emergency room. I took her hand and whispered "Good."
She smiled this really weak smile "You thought I was a gonner?"
I shrugged "Maybe?"
"I thought I was dead too...under the rubble."
"WHAT RUBBLE!?"
"The justice building kinda collapsed on me." She wheezed "And, I haven't got a clue how, but Finn managed to pull me out?"
"It's a damned good job he did."
A silence passed until she mumbled "Where's mom?"
"She's alright, don't worry."
"But, where is she?"
"She...Some news came through this morning...Her mom's been killed in one of the bombings."
Lily
My granny might not be the nicest person on earth but I didn't want her dead. How must my mom be feeling? God. I couldn't imagine not having my mom.
"And,"
I looked up
"Your Grandad's in hospital."
"So, she's gone to the capitol?"
He shook his head "She's been told she isn't welcome."
"Oh."
"So, she'll come over later- she just wanted to be alone for a couple of hours."
"You've been sat here for hours?"
He smiled and mumbled "You needed a hug off me when you came out of hospital before, I needed to come into the hospital to hear your voice."
"Oh."
"Anyway, I'm going to go see how your mother's doing, I'll see you later?"
"OK."
I laid back in the bed and sighed. The door clicked open and Finn cradled me in his arms. He kissed the top of my head "Hey."
"Hi, is Charlie OK?"
"He isn't impressed that he can't come see you yet- your dad just offered to take him home so he's gone."
"He's better off instead of hanging around here bored."
"Yup...Doctors said they might be able to discharge you in the morning."
"That seems a bit soon?" I said slowly
"That's what I thought, but, there's so many people injured that they can't keep up."
"Ah."
"So you and our little girl can be home- especially since I know how much you hate the hospital?"
"Yeah I know." I sighed slowly
"Night?"
"Night." He said softly kissing my hair
