I woke sharply, blinded by the sunlight. I staggered into the bathroom I fell to my hands and knees and that was it- I vomited all over the floor.
"Lily, come on." Finn said gently, pulling me to the toilet. He pulled back my hair and held me in place to stop me sliding down the bowl. Eventually I stopped and he sat me back on the floor stroking my forehead "You alright now?"
I nodded "Think so?"
"Mommy? Daddy Helloooo?"
"Don't let him in here- he'll add to the mess I've already made!"
Finn jumped up but it was too late. He saw the vomit on the floor and went white...then, nature took it's course.
"Charlie, come on baby?" I mumbled taking him to the suitcase under the bed. He started crying as I gently peeled his pajamas off.
"Everyone gets sick sweetheart it's okay?"
"I-I'm sorry?"
"It's okay Charlie, no one's bothered."
Living with my dad since I was fifteen had made me used to cleaning up sick.
I changed him into a clean t-shirt and mumbled as I gave him a hug "Right, we're gonna clean up the bathroom then you can go get washed 'kay?"
"Okay momma."
I stumbled in and Finn was way ahead of me, the cleaning was done. He smiled unsurely and mumbled "Umm, are you alright?"
"Yeah." I murmured walking over and putting my arms around him. He pulled me tighter.
"Oh good that proves I don't smell of puke?"
"Nope?"
"I'm gonna get Charlie sorted and wash my mouth out with soap?"
He chuckled "Ok, I'll sort Charlie?"
"What?" Charlie said going up to the sink and grabbing his toothbrush
"Nothing?" I murmured as Finn kissed the side of my head softly
I followed Finn and Charlie outside a little later- the snow had fallen but the sun was up so Finn was carrying Charlie's bike down the steps. We were going to get him for his third birthday but I decided against it: that was how old I was when I had mine- and when I was attacked.
"Buckle up kid?" I murmured putting his helmet on.
"I'm ready!" He cheered
"Right," Finn said putting Charlie's feet on the pedals. I sat on the bench watching. The bike rolled and Finn stopped dumbstruck watching Charlie ride circles around him. He sat on the bench beside me "Well that didn't take long?"
He came speeding back towards us "DADDY YOU DIDN'T TELL ME HOW TO STOP!?"
I shoved Finn and he ran after him and just managed to catch him "You pull this lever here- that's the break son?"
"Ohh, okay!"
He rode up and down past us for an hour or so until he stopped pulling the bike up and sitting next to us. He un clipped his helmet and giggled. Me and Finn started laughing when we saw. His hair was completely flat to his head. He shook his head a few times and rubbed his hand all over to mess it back up.
He grinned and mumbled "Ok, I'm sorted."
I smiled "That's alright then?"
"Are we going to great grandma and Grandad's tonight?"
I nodded
"YES!" He cheered
It started to rain
