Lily
"Mommy,"
"Yeah?"
"Are you better today?"
"A bit, why?"
"Can we go the reservoir today with my fishing rod and take Pancake?"
"Umm...." I didn't fancy shouting Pancake along the bank but with the last month we'd had I suppose I couldn't really say no to a simple walk down the bank.
"OK, yeah, we can."
"Are you sure you'll be okay to walk?"
I nodded "I'm sure, I'll take my stick just in case babe, yeah?"
"Yeah, I'll put Pancake on his lead."
"Alright then, and you need a coat?"
"Yeah, I'll get it."
"OK."
I watched him run in the sunset down to the reservoir edge with the dog.
"Hold onto that lead, right Charlie?"
"I am momma."
I sat in the shade of the single tree that curved over the reservoir's edge as Charlie wound the reel of his fishing rod around.
"Little professional." I giggled
He turned as he cast his line into the water "What?"
"Nothing sweetheart?"
He let Pancake off the lead and it plunged into the sea. At least it wasn't running across the sand.
"Hey? I saw the note on the door?" Finn said gently, sitting beside me in the sand. The dog jumped back out the water and ran rings around both of us. He turned my head with his finger to face him and kissed my forehead.
"Yeah, we haven't been here long?"
"My mom not with you?"
"Nope, her and my mom went shopping in 12- for an hour- and they've been gone for 4 already."
"I didn't think the merchant area of 12 had shops that you could spent 4 hours looking at?"
I shrugged "Me neither, so, God knows where they've gone?"
He kissed the side of my head again and said, laughter in his voice "You're a girl, aren't you meant to know?"
Finnick
She smiled and shoved me playfully "Shut up Finn."
"Alright?"
"DAD! WHAT DO I DO?"
I looked up and the float on the end of his line kept plummeting beneath the water.
I jumped up and scrambled across the sand "Reel it in!"
He started turning the reel and I sat next to him guiding his hand around. A small fish sprang out on the end of the line. I pulled it in and Charlie squealed "What fish is it?"
"It's a...Haddock."
"Haddock." He repeated before pausing for a second "I'm gonna put him back."
"Alright."
He slipped the fish back into the water and watched it swim away.
"Bye!" He yelled, waving vigorously
I turned around "Lily?"
"I'm behind the tree, has it gone?"
I chuckled "Yeah, it's gone."
