Finnick
I watched her go pale when her name was called.
"Lil, come on, the sooner you're in there the sooner you'll have nothing to worry about?"
She frowned when the nurse called her name again and got up slowly. We were led into a small side room where the medical profession had left us a welcoming party neither of us appreciated. Lily's specialist nurse Francine was there, five doctors, a couple of midwives, a dozen nurses and a physiotherapist.
One of the doctors smiled thinly and said "Take a seat?" - every syllable was patronizing.
Lily
It was nice to know I'd been talked about. I wasn't exactly thrilled all these different people knew everything about me and what was going on before I'd ever even met them. I was OK about Francine knowing, and the doctor who gave me the medical check for the boxing and the midwives were obviously needed. But the other people seemed unrequired.
They weren't even talking to me. It was like I wasn't even in the room. They were talking to Finn, telling him how to look after me like a kid taking a goldfish home from the pet shop. They weren't even giving him chance to speak or even nod, they just kept going on and on. His fists were clenched. I don't think he was impressed either. The strangers all went after giving their over bearing lectures. It left me, Finn and Francine alone.
She sighed as she smiled "They do go on a bit don't they?"
"Understatement..." I mumbled
Finnick
I'd met Francine a couple of times. She knew Lily, medical wise, better than anyone else.
"I have some advice for you both?" She began
"What?" Lily said slowly
"Ignore half of whatever they just said." She nodded at Lily "All you have to do is know when you've had enough for the day- and if, I dunno, if Finn offers to wash up or something then you let him without protesting?"
She smiled "Do I have to?"
"Yes, you do."
She rolled her eyes "Ok?"
Francine grinned "Promise?"
"You want me to promise to let people do stuff for me?"
"Yes, because I know you won't have things done for you because you're independent- and kinda stubborn like that?"
She sighed "Ok? I promise?"
"And if you get worried or have questions you have my number?"
