I wake up in a sitting position. And from the feel of the fabric on my ass, I'm on another fucking hospital chair.
I was disorientated and confused. Then I remembered about me and Frannie.
How she yelled.
"Isaac, how are you feeling?" I recognised Dr Maria's sweet voice.
"Fine. what happened? I straightened myself up, fixing my glasses.
"You fainted Isaac. Your moms on her way here son." Michaels voice was a lot calmer than it was earlier. "I'm sorry, Isaac. Frannie was in a state. She's away home, to get rest. It is 5am. She's been up for hours."
"Don't apologise. I should have been ore sensitive." I say, swimming in guilt.
"It's okay." He says, leaning a hand on my shoulder.
In silence, Dr Maria quickly left the hospital ward.
And me and Michael was left with Hazel, as her heart monitor beeped and beeped.
"Isaac, when you were out, we got news." Michael said.
"What?"
"Isaac. Hazel has pneumonia. But, somehow... Dr Maria insists she'll pull threw."
Those words danced in the air for seconds later as a wave of happiness swam threw me.
yet the only word I could pull out was,
"Great."
"Isn't it just." Michael replied.
Smiling probably.
"Michael...what does she look like now?" I asked.
I hadn't totally forgotten but I wanted to know. 3 months can change someone totally. Especially cancer. I still need to Hazel was still as beautiful as she was the day I met her.
"She looks still. Cold. But still our beautiful Hazel."
"Augustus' beautiful Hazel."
"Exactly, Isaac. Augustus' beautiful Hazel."
About 10 minutes later, Mom arrived. Hustling in, all worried about me fainting. Mom led me over to hazels unconscious body at the bed and I kissed he cold forehead. Then I hugged Michael, and we drove home in silence.
The next morning I woke up at 11am. I didnt get ally of sleep but if was all I could get from worrying about Hazel.
I got breakfast and mom questioned me on my I fainted. I said I probably just didn't eat much or something. I didn't want to drop Frannie in it, she was so stressed.
Then the landline called.
Everything inside me collapsed because I felt like something had happened to Hazel.
It hadn't.
Mom was standing over at the wall mounted phone I the kitchen whilst I sat at the breakfast bar.
"Isaac, do you wanna go to the hospital today?" She questioned.
"Yeah, I was going to ask you to take me there later when Graham woke up."
Mom talked on the phone for a few seconds. Ignoring me. I wondered who she was talking to until so finished the call by saying, "okay, Michael, send Frannie my love." An hung up.
"What was that all about?" I questioned as she sat next to me, eating what smelled like toast.
"Michael wanted to know if you were going in today."
"Why?"
"So Kaitlyn could lift you."
"Kaitlyn? as in hazels high school friend I've never met?"
"Yeap. she wants to go in today and offered to collect you because she says she can't wait to meet you. Michael gave her our address. She'll be here in an hour. Get showered. You smell like sweat."
And with that, I decided to scream on Graham.
"Oh Graham. Get up!" I bellowed. "It's time to help your big brother in and out of the bathtub."
"You owe me, dude!" He yelped, entering the lichen and leading me to the bathroom.
"I know." I whispered to him with a small smile in my face. " I know."
